Is this normal for a k390 Endura?

#1

Post by Paraguy »

The seller said it was new but it looks like there is black sharpie on the back. There is also already a patina. Should i ask for a partial refund? It is from ebay.

That black strip is wrong and the blue color appears to be wrong for the K390 version. The K390 appears to be stamped and not etched. My gut tells me this is not real or some kind of Frankenknife made from parts.

It feels real. It must be a good fake. I read the description the seller said he acid etched it.

The inside is blue so it looks like he sharpied it.

I don't know whether or not it is fake, but I certainly wouldn't be calling it new, if he's been acid etching it. It also has an aftermarket clip.

He advertised it with the clip. He said it was a Lynch. A magnet didn't stick to it.

Agreed, a straight out of the box is $131.50 , the one I found acid etched and changed clip was $160? How much you pay for it ? Seller have a return policy?

Your last picture shows the color better and it looks correct. Can you get a better picture of the tang where it says K390?

It’s real  Knives plus has some that are modified and a look 100% likes the OP
“” The MODIFIED Spyderco K390 Endela Lightweight Knife, a mid size EDC that ups the ante, features an ACID STONEWASHED 3.41 inch drop point blade made of Bohler-Uddeholm K390 tool steel, .118 inch thick, with a full flat grind, a thumb ramp for secure grip, and the Spyderco hole for ambidextrous one hand opening. The blue FRN (fiberglass nylon resin) handle has been given a black Rit Dye fade starting from the pivot. The dye steadily fades toward the acid stonewashed pocket clip which has also been heat colored. ””

**Incorrect see below**

It's not a KP modified knife, at least from what I see on their site. KP knives have better blade finish and I have not yet seen one in anything other that VG-10. If the OP is good with it, that's all that counts.

S-3 is right, when I search for K390 there are similar modified knives at KP. Higher priced due to the dye job and hardware mods.
