Would you like to see a Sharpening subforum?

#1

Post by SG89 »

So the Mule recently got it's own subforum... Seems like a subforum for Sharpening would be nice too. Having all the sharpening info in one place would be helpful for members trying to instead search through multiple threads. This poll is inspired by the recent "sticky" of SE Performance thread.

I'm interested in this. May not be the most active section overall but there is probably a lot of good info to be shared and discussed in this group. Could make for a great resource.

Yes
Sometimes it is nice to see how I can correct my mistake, see if something is chipping

I would definitely like to see how different types of steel performance is maxed out on toothy vs high polished [/b]. The stones or gizmos used :)

Would love a subforum for sharpening and general maintenance. Would clean up discussion a lot, plus as someone who often disassembles and tunes their knives I'd frequent it.
Lightly insane.

It seems like a topic that would eventually get kinda stale? How many threads can you make about sharpening? I tend to do the same thing most of the time besides a few variations I've tried. After a while it seems like most ideas will be hashed out and then it would die down. It would be a good way of consolidating a lot of specific info into one place.

We users may not be able to make sub forums or stickies but there's nothing stopping any of us from making one mega thread and then the "owner" of that thread can edit the first post and add links from other member threads and create/consolidate this info to make it easier to find.

Not a bad idea at all.

Definitely a few threads that can go there already. Evil D & vivi's threads come to mind

I voted no, because the community sharpening journal seems to be enough, but maybe an "if you build it, they will come" approach will work?
