Would you like to see a Sharpening subforum?
Re: Would you like to see a Sharpening subforum?
Yes please! Trying to get into sharpening more. Started out with water stones but never really got any good at it. Got a work sharp paj a while back and it does the job well but I want to get good at free hand sharpening.
Re: Would you like to see a Sharpening subforum?
I think it makes a lot of sense to have all of that info in one place :)

Yes with stickies for beginners. My issue with mega threads is finding pertinent information. Also, part the magic of a forum is the dialogue. I hate (but understand) the response “use the search feature”.
Re: Would you like to see a Sharpening subforum?
Much better than trying to find the community sharpening journal thread every time You want to post about a sweet edge you made. That thread should be a sticky too by the way. Good idea!

Everything in one place makes things easy to find. Hopefully if this goes ahead the old threads that gained traction could be moved there too.

Just a thought, but perhaps a broader more encompassing knife issue subforum called something like knife maintenance. It kind of occurred to me because I spent the last couple hours grinding down the kick on a dozen or so folders that had been sharpened so much that the pointed tip of the knives were beginning to show above the handle when closed. Some newbies may not know what to do when that occurs. And of course a lot more knife maintenance issues in addition to sharpening.

If I didn't think we'd be creating a thousand hours of work for Kristi, I'd say it was a good idea.

Agreed, if it were to happen it should encompass sharpening and maintenance issues.skeeg11 wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 7:31 pmJust a thought, but perhaps a broader more encompassing knife issue subforum called something like knife maintenance. I think it’s a great idea. Would be a tremendous resource for those seeking info. Some of the better threads should be stickied, like a couple of Shawn’s threads and the sharpening journal. My other thought is, I don’t want to see 30 subfora here, that makes it too hard to keep up with the content.
