It is nice to see those mellow serrations. :spyder:

This knife could represent the perfect storm of performance attributes… A high wear, tough steel, which should support SE well, shallow SE, long edge, FFG, light weight package, production model, in a nice colour. :)

I am not a big fan of SE, but this model will make me fork out the dough to give SE another try.

Find someone who wants the blue scales on their VG-10 P4 LW and swap!

I actually like the more rounded serrations on this!

Will this displace the P4 G-10 K390 out of my collection? Hmmm...

I know there was a thread here somewhere, but can anyone again please confirm if the P4 G10 and LW blades can be swapped? Apologies for the short term memory loss...

Does it really have rounded serrations, compared to standard grind? If so, that's a must-buy.
Or can we allow that's not the real photo but "estimated graphic drawing imperfection" ?
That will make huge difference for me, considering how much effort will it take to round it by hand, due the K390 hardness.

Actually on the website it seems to have just a standard sharp SE grind - https://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details/C07F4K390/1907

They still look pretty mellow to me. Lighting can definitely effect it though. I'm also very curious about how easy they'll be to reprofile being K390. This steel is really going in the opposite direction from what I think would be an ideal steel for serrations but I'm really excited to try it. If it ends up being prone to chipping it could be a nightmare to fix, but the response to K390 seems so positive in PE I guess we'll see. I plan to put this knife through some testing so we'll definitely see how it handles.

My PE K390 blade sharpening process is pretty smooth - on apex-like system with diamond stones, but I doubt it will be easy on alumina ceramic rods.

As David says - "this knife is gonna rock right out of the box"

thanks to the feedback from all the serrated/spyder edge users,
those "softened" serrations absolutely have a lot to do with that :)

thanks y'all for constructive criticism that got us here, and thanks Spyderco for listening, and
making it happen!

I have found sharpening serrated S30V to be a breeze. I have no worries about sharpening serrated K390.

This thing will obviously cut like crazy.

The question we will all have to answer concerns durability. Excited to see if K390 can support some teeth.

It would be great if it could support teeth as a ZDP-189 replacement - which was not so great at it. I guess it is good that K390 is not as hard/brittle as ZDP. It should be fine.

I have a feeling it would not have made it into production if the research and testing indicated otherwise, sal had hinted at it a while back

Interesting choice of serrations. I wonder whether that’s the wrong graphic, chosen for the steel characteristics in use, or related to the availability of suitable grinding media at the factory.
Not that it matters.... that is going to be an awesome blade!
