Some Baliyo history - Talkin' Story

#1

Post by sal »

Hi,

I thought to share some history. About 2006 or 2007, we came up with the idea to make a "legal" bali-song. After much thought, we decided on a pen. Eric picked up the project and ran with. He designed, patented and went through the entire manufacturing process in USA and China. He also worked with a musician to create a "sound" and with a camera on his head, he made a video. Memory trip.

Our very own Wouter was a big help in the beginning, with promotion, contests, etc.

Impressive that you and Eric went to such great lengths to research and design the Baliyo. That flipping video is very entertaining too- Eric built up some good skills with that thing!

I love my Baliyo and use it all the time... I am not as good in flipping it like Eric is though, it takes some skill-adaption since it is much lighter than a Balisong-knife. But really fun! :) (And the pen itself is of high quality)

The BaliYo is on my want list. Great video, too...the music has almost an '80s video game vibe.

I have been on the hunt for one of those for a long time. But every time I order something from a place that has them in stock I forget to get one. This might help me remember... :)

I always thought it was an interesting concept, especially for people who like the balisong knife. I am afraid I'd end up with the pen stuck in my eye or something, though. :D

I still wish there'd be a Ti version, really soon! Even the Heavy Duty version is a bit flimsy around the pivots - too flimsy for me personally.... I still carry it cause it's compact and cool, and a :spyder: product. I hope the Ti version - if it comes - will be perfect.

Really liked this fidgety toy but i felt like plastic on chinese pen was nicer than on the premium one.

I keep my Baliyo on my desk at home and pick it up and flip it around often. I can only do a couple of moves with it but it's fun none-the-less
