Guessing game: which model will be released first in MagnaCut?

I wonder what scale color will correspond with the steel. The same way Maxement has gray scales.

Not TOO many colors left... some shade of green? A real dark red (so it can´t be confused with the red of the trainers)?

I think a dark blue is also available? I think so far there is only Bento Box blue and s110v blurple? I could be wrong.

Please no more blue...S110,K390,Spy27, FRN S90v, plus many others are good for now

Brown, green(in between foliage and Zdp), darker shade of grey. Even burgundy if done right could be interesting.

A full lineup run like the Rex45 in brown or green would be perfect.

Spy27 is also darkish blue.

Charcoal grey. Spyderco will shoot themselves in the foot if they choose a love-it or hate-it color. If it’s going to be as popular as this board seems to think spyderco should maximize the appeal.

I think they will follow the same release strategy as for SPY27. I think Spyderco likely wants to compare SPY27 and Magnacut, in the same knife models, as potential S30V replacements.

I think it would be cool if they gave Larrin a couple choices and let him pick. He said he likes slim, sub 3" w/ thin blade.

If MagnaCut appears in a Para3, that’ll be my first Para3. I’d prefer it in the Military Model.

But if MagnaCut performs as advertised, I imagine it will become available in a variety of models sooner or than later.

Most likely para3. It would make the most sense to put a new steel in a knife that would attract the most folks and be used/seen daily.

Long time lurker around here but thought I would chime in regarding this topic.

I read through the designer’s data and testing results and one of the things that caught my attention, way toward the end, was some thoughts on how this steel has the potential to work very well in thin blade stock and low angle edge geometry situations.

While a para 3 lw might make sense, from a popularity contest standpoint (I.e. marketability and sales), could this be the steel that helps get us some more models with thin blades? Especially from Golden?

That being said, perhaps the first options could, or should be the ukpn and/or the z-cut kitchen knife?

As mentioned, I’m mostly an occasional lurker so if my thoughts are way off base, don’t hold it against me

Paramilitary 2 is the one I'd most like to see. Para 3 seems likely to be high on the list.

A Military or Police would be fun in MagnaCut. It seems the long, thin bladed knives could really benefit from its toughness.

My guess is a Native 5 LW first, hoping for a chief down the line.

Regarding scale color, it would be fun to use something from the retro color palette from the marketing material. Since the crowd seems tired of blues, and the orange is very close to burnt orange / used diaper, maybe the light shade of subdued teal-ish like thing could do the trick.

I imagine MagnaCut to be a prime candidate for many of Spyderco’s fixed blades like the Province, Moran, etc.
As well as kitchen knives.
Perhaps a MagnaCut SpydieChef or Kapara.
Maybe consider a dark Golden color for the handle since that topic also seems to keep coming up, though I also like the idea of a Green because that’s my favorite color :p

Probably a Native 5 or Para 3, something I'm not interested in. Bit pessimistic of me but those two get all the attention.

Well, I guess technically Larrin's PM2 was first, but it seems according to the new product guide that the Native 5 will probably be the first to hit the rest of the market, but I'm betting there's a major bomb dropping reveal right around the corner and it's going to include the PM2/3 as well. Spyderco surely recognize the money making potential with those two hitting the market as soon as possible while the hype surrounding this steel is red hot.
