Thanks, Dan! I just positioned it on my counter top. It's definitely the nicest pic I've ever taken of a knife. Most of the pics I take are pretty so-so! 😂

I have seen it said the Chief carries small; I have found that to be true of the Endura. Can anyone describe how the Chief carries in comparison to the Endura?

(I wonder if these two are compared on the comparison pic thread)

The Endura definitely rides slimmer in the pocket. Sometimes the Chief can feel a little bit “boxy” in the pocket, but both are light enough to carry even in running shorts!

I have a shaman, pm2, pm3, police, military, siren and native chief. The native chief is absolutely the best looking knife of them all followed by the siren.

Looking forward to the possibility of a Native Chief LW in Magnacut or K390. How about both?

I made a whole other thread about a MagnaCut version. I bet in the long run it'll happen once the demand for that steel levels out. Whether it's a full blown Salt including all the hardware will be the question.

Wow, what a knife. I'll be honest I wasn't blown away by pictures, but I just got to handle one the other day and man was I impressed, like Military competition impressed. Like might be my favorite choiled design impressed.

But...

You already know what I'm going to say....

When can I get one in full SE? :D

Oh and if this came with rounded scales like the Shaman.... Oh my.

Does anybody have a rough estimate of about how thick each scale is?

Are there any nicely rounded after-market scales for the Native Chief? There might be a strong market for natural micarta scales (micarta is easy to dye at home).

I'm not sure there are ANY scales for the G10 Native 5 or Chief are there? Seems like someone just asked about the Native 5 G10 and it was assumed there aren't any because of the clip/hardware thread anchors, which might be more than scale makers want to deal with. I suppose titanium with threaded holes would be doable. Helicoils are definitely possible but again might be more than the scale makers want to mess with.

Word is the goal is to make a bunch of Golden models in a MagnaCut Salt version. I'm assuming this includes the Chief.

Just need to know when the SE version is shipping out 😃

I too a,m hoping for an SE Chief (though admittedly I´ve not even tried a PE one so far, but this will be changing soon... :smirk )

Actually my hope (and also guess) is that weĺl see an LW in BD1N SE first. Not bad too, right?
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

When I get one it'll surely get rounded off, but with the screws so close to the edges of the scales I can only contour it so much, and I suspect that'll be what stops Spyderco from doing the same. If you compare the Chief to the Shaman the screws are a good bit further in from the edge on the Shaman.
What about a Stretch XL SE, what do you thing about it and how it compares to the Chief?

I haven't had any time with a Stretch 2 so I can only speculate, it's really just a matter of preferences. I think the Stretch 2 likely compares pretty closely to what would be a back lock Military 2, so the things I like more about a Chief over a Military pretty much carry over to a Stretch 2 also.

Oh, I realized this is a totally different thread. There's a discussion about the Military vs Chief if you didn't see it.

My current preferences actually lean towards the Chief, and that's after years of being a Military fanboy. I've come to prefer the flat spine no thumb ramp designs and I like the edge/belly profile more on the Chief. I actually like the grip area more on the Military but I think I do prefer the larger finger choil, if it's gonna be there it may as well lock my finger into place. I'm still seriously looking into making my own scales for a Chief, I'm just waiting for the time to work on it and *fingers crossed" a SE MagnaCut version to start with.

Ah, I didn't consider that. I am still new to Spyderco. Now that I look at them side by side, I understand the differences.
