Forum sprint run?
Re: Forum sprint run?
Previous editions have been Natives and PM2s?
So it seems likely that the first requirement is that it's a made in Golden CO model. Then second one of the more signature models so nothing too out on the fringe.

Re: Forum sprint run?
Seriously, a knife like Sage LW in some nice color and some cool steel would be pretty sweet without breaking the bank and thus allowing more members to get one.
... I like weird ...
Re: Forum sprint run?
Right? Seems like a lot of folks want a $400 forum knife, but I think it really needs to be under $200 for reasonably wide appeal.

Re: Forum sprint run?
I’d say a Military 2 with a Magnacut/micarta combo would tick a lot of boxes.

Re: Forum sprint run?
If it has to be Golden made, I couldn’t think of anything harder to resist than a magnacut Millie. Micarta would be nice, if they can have countersunk liners. If it can’t, I think I’ll rather have G10.

(Micarta Titanium)
Micarta presentation side and Titanium frame lock with Magna Cut would be special. Magna Carta!

Re: Forum sprint run?
I think it is best to let Spyderco make the selection. In the past when we have had threads with people making suggestions- it seems that 50 people would make 50 different suggestions. We could never agree on one knife.

Shaman, black micarta, MagnaCut. Terminator in a tuxedo.
All SE all the time since 2017

Re: Forum sprint run?
I thought we settled on a Sage 5 LW in OD green or FDE with a Vanax SC pointy end?
Re: Forum sprint run?
I think a Terminator Shaman NEEDS titanium scales.
Magna-Ti Shaman would suit me fine.

Re: Forum sprint run?
I still don't get why anyone would want a large, hard use knife in Maxamet... YES, Maxamet is awesome as far as edge taking and holding, but it's got close to last place toughness. Give me 3V, heck even 5160 over Maxamet in a Millie!
The TiCarta option sounds pretty sweet though :D
(YMMV)

still more knives than sharpening stones...

Re: Forum sprint run?
I think a native would be more appealing and accessible to many people, although a Shaman would be very popular.
"Some call me...Tim?"
Re: Forum sprint run?
I chose Maxamet because I see a lot of people hoping for a Maxamet Millie...then again, I see hopes for everything around here haha! I definitely appreciate the edge retention though, as well as that beautiful finish on the blade.awa54 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 28, 2021 11:25 pmI still don't get why anyone would want a large, hard use knife in Maxamet... I wouldn't be opposed to pretty much any steel though if it were thrown into this configuration

Re: Forum sprint run?
All for a Micarta Millie but Maxamet does poorly where I live so maybe a more corrosion resistant steel would be more inclusive. Check out the videos deadboxhero made about maxamet. It is tough enough, also in my experience

I remember something about micarta not being strong enough handle material to be used in a linerless design. That would complicate things with a Millie.
