Well, it seems the Millie is clearly in the lead.
Questions that need clarity…
Is Spyderco interested in making a forum sprint run if everyone pre pays?
What the unit threshold would be?
What options they will entertain?

Soooo next question for us…what steel on the millie? Magna Cut? 15V? LC200N? ______?

I’m very interested in Magna Cut in any Golden made model...I’d prefer a Millie or a Shaman personally. Also, it’d be nice to be able to buy one to use and one to keep.

Thanks for the efforts!

I am curious to see what the next reveal is and how that might alter the demand.

Any forum project begun today, which is not likely will still be a 2022 model.

Yep, other than MT30, it was a real snoozer. Sounds like a resounding "no" from Sal, so I'd say distributor and retailer exclusives will be the place to look for neat and new in the future.

Y’all jockeys can keep all the Ti scale and fugly color ( orange, pink , teal ,zome) frn and even any g10 stuff for y’all’s safes and drawers, chunk out some stretch 2’s in spy27, XHP , Hap40 , , 20cv or some full SE or PE delica in some of the hot list steel and pleasant looking Frn ,
I keep having to pass on a zome or pumpkin color, teal , pink , In lusty steel
My luck everything I have pre ordered in K390 will hit the market all at once and the flippers and other buzzards will snap them up if agriculture’s prices stay stagnant

Agreed.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

As far as I know, yes.

It was a gray PM2 with spyder inlet.
Was available for months.

For me, the only realistic forum knife that could sell fast at the moment is a Slysz Bowie.

A basic Millie in an interesting steel and G10 scales in a color suitable to the steel, but no fancy changes that require engineering, seems like the most meaningful approach.

I’m not a large knife guy myself, but it seems obvious even to me that the Millie could need another variation and that there is significant support for this on the forum.

It’s not a cheap knife, so it’s not a perfect forum knife in that regard, but rationally speaking, one should buy a knife because it covers a pre-existing need, and not because it creates a need.
Most other Golden models come in enough variations to cover most needs, and while it’s nice to offer a forum knife at a price point accessible to more people, it’s less rational to buy a knife just because you can afford it, no matter how rare or special it is.

Within the constraints laid out, I can’t think of a more appealing option than MagnaCut with green scales that mimics the retro color scheme of the MagnaCut posters. But a Millie would be interesting in many configurations even for me. And again, that’s coming from someone who’s not all that into large knives.

Rit dye solves the color issue on light colored scales. I say don’t hold back if you do not like the color, but love the steel.

If there is something compelling other than being a forum knife like a new or different steel or handle material I can not see it hanging around for sale very long. People would join the forum just to get the knife I would think. I do see the international issue with the Millie with the lock and length issue but the forum has spoken loudly with the Millie.

Completely understandable, good things take time
(as shown with the Respect, Tusk, etc ;-) )

But if you're up for suggestions,
I've got three for you:
- Maxamet lil' native with contoured grey micarta handles
- LC200N Catcherman
- Dragonfly Magnacut Slipjoint (for the UK/Germany peeps)

Yeah, but it somehow seems more plausible that,
IF this P3 becomes a reality, that it won't be a sprint run only for the forum,
the possible appeal might just be too large for a larger public.

I agree - I was just trying to find an easy way out for sal :D - you know, just add some fancy color FRN scales and call it a forum knife and few months later bring the regular yellow version :)
