Taichung - Ti or CF must haves, serrations, tool steels...
Taichung - Ti or CF must haves, serrations, tool steels...
I would like some suggestions from the group for where to go with my Taichung collection and raise the question to the group, why is there so little to be had in the way of serrated Taichung models, or use of Tool steels (*OK yes the GB has M4) . . .
I've been doing some spring cleaning, case shuffling/upgrading & just generally reorganizing my collection, up until now I have kept my CF & Ti models in a small SpyderPac split 9 for each... when it occured to me that there isn't a single SE model or a single Tool steel model to be had in my collection, which given my proclivity towards SE models & tool steels struck me really odd*
My "to get list" is the GB2* & Smock on the CF side, and Nirvana & Slysz Bowie on the Ti side
But outside of that, are there any must-have Taichung models (even non CF/Ti) that I am forgetting/missing, especially any SE models, or Tool Steel models
TIA, I really appreciate the input & suggestions!
9 for the CF and 9 for the Ti

Canis, Watu, Ikuchi, Mantra3, PPT (Sprint), Sage 1, Sage 3, Sage 5, Chaparral

K2, Paysan, SwayBack, SpydieChef, Sage2, Brouwer, Chubby, Techno2, Techno1

The Subvert and hundred pacer are pretty cool, also the SE Caribbean

Cool, the Caribbean has definitely been calling me for a while now, I need to check out the Subvert & hundred pacer as I know very little about the hundred pacer and even less about the subvert, thanks for the suggestions!

Nice collection by the way. I've owned 13 out of those 18.

Don't forget the Mantra2, mine has really grown on me despite my preference for large knives as my EDC. It is a superbly designed knife and the M4 performs very well.
I love it!

My favorite EDC. 3.2" M4 cutting edge packed in a Ti framelock with no limiting hand positioning hump in a Delica style handle. What's not to like?
Salitified LC200N with full serrations would have been nice, tho.
Re: Taichung - Ti or CF must haves, serrations, tool steels...
My experience is way too limited, but I would say try to get your hands on GB1 - the robustness & smoothness is incredible. I am also super impressed by the Brouwer (half Ti knife, so I am mentioning here). The Ti finish is beautiful and the G10 has actually super matching color. The knife is very smooth and 'gentle' (I worked on mine a bit). Give it a custom Ti clip and it is hard to beat for an urban knife. The ergonomics is out of this world. I am soon getting the Schempp Bowie, so I can not comment on it yet. But I am absolutely loving the design.
... I like weird ...

Would the Vrango with CF inlay or Pingo Ti work for you? I have both and like them.I have the Chapparal Stepped Ti that is well made but my version has a stiff/firm action as I am still in the breakin period. Do you have the Dice and Firefly (my next purchases)?
Nice collection friend. Take care,

Thinking about which Taichung blade to get next.......
Re: Taichung - Ti or CF must haves, serrations, tool steels...
Taichung absolutely rocks at serrations. The Caribbean is a 9th inning last bat grand slam IMO. There are a lot of models from Taichung I'd love to see with the same serrations as the Caribbean has.
All SE all the time since 2017

The K2 was a steal at the $150 blow out price
They should reintroduce the mantra 1 without the flipper and bearings. That one looks so good
If I had unlimited money, I'd own a drunken. It's pure art

A Caribbean is definitely on my short list to purchase, what other Taichung SE models would you recommend? TA!

Re: Taichung - Ti or CF must haves, serrations, tool steels...
I can't get past the clip, and the after market ones I've seen are not my jam at all. If I could put a MXG clip like I have on my Paysan I would buy a Drunken, but why the clip configuration was allowed to be made that way is beyond me.
