What are the odds we will see a black blade run of Seki K390? :D

I'd be for it! especially if it means a coated k390 wharny dragonfly and delica.

K390 reeeeeeally needs a coating in my part of the world.
Lightly insane.

I'd love to see it. I am in the midst of scaling my collection down massively to fund a new hobby, but I would 100% buy an Endela and Endura the second they came out in this combo.

High performance high hollow ground Delica in K390. Black bladed model would be nice.

The black blade does look good with the k390 blue but I'm not particularly interested in coated blades. However, if they make it in k390, I will purchase it. :)

I'm all for the stain-more tool steels getting coated blades, it honestly doesn't make sense to me that most of the coated blades you see are stainless varieties that need much less protection anyway. I'd certainly be more interested in K390 with a quality protective coating.

Owners of K390 Seki knives, could you please advise on rust occurence on blade, depending on the enviroment?

I'm living by the sea and all my knives are stainless by default; yesterday I was looking at Bohlers datasheet and wanted to try out one of the Seki versions, but would not want to have it rusted on the third day of carry.

I’m in lower NY and my K390 Police 4 is starting to patina. I had some very small superficial rust spots that I was able to remove. I do get the knife wet fairly regularly at work but I always dry it and use a CLP wipe at the end of the day.

I've seen people "force" patina on these types of steel.

We'll disregard the fact that I don't have the slightest idea how to do this (will find a youtube video probably), but my additional question is - when you force patina, is this steel then somewhat protected from new rusting, or it would rust as easy as without patina?

I’m in the same boat as you. I have no idea. I just like to use my knives and see where they go naturally.

I would want this so bad. A SE black blade Endura/Endela would make me giggle.

I think this needs to happen. I’d also like to put in a plug/beg for the waved/Emerson opener models to get a k390 and black treatment!

I'd be on board for that, especially with the Police 4.

How about serrated K390 that's blacked out?

Can you feel it?
