Bought my fourth Shaman today...

Had training to do in Florence, AL today, and got out about 10. Ran to academy sports and picked up an AR cleaning kit, went to home depot and picked up the vanity and faucet my wife ordered, then decided to go to St. Nick's Knives. Was looking to get a new Cruwear Adamas, but no luck. But then I saw the S30v dlc Shaman. Their website said they had none in stock. I bought it. Haha! Shaman #4! And if anyone is looking for one, they have 3 more. They might be able to ship them if you give them a call.

Thanks again to Sal for making my favorite knife!

How do they cut? I love the design but it seems a bit chunky for me.

Cut great imo. Heavy duty, but still a slicer. Perfect size too!

Thats why I haven't bought one. It's fat and seems like it would take up too much pocket.

I may have to add one to the collection once more steel options come around, just one though :D

Just a tad wider than a PM2, but takes up less pocket space because the PM2 is actually longer and also has a hump for the thumb ramp, where as the Shaman is flat.

*edit* - now that I got home and have then lined up with each other, the PM2 is actually only very slightly taller at it's highest point and that's a very small area. First time I actually really compared the two together!

I said the same thing once...and here I am with 3 ;)

Even though it's a thick blade stock, I haven't noticed any difference in slicing capabilities compared to say a PM2 or Manix. Of course a lot of it has to do with how well you can sharpen as well.

Also, the height of the grind. The Shaman has a pretty wide blade, so lots of area for the thickness to drop!

Not trying to hijack your thread just wanted to show you how I shaved that bump off the ricasso. Made all the difference. So much better now

I don't mind the bump, so I just leave mine alone. To each their own, right? Lol

Hi Soc_Monk,

Thanks for the support and the kind words about my design.

Hi Marty_Bill,

It's your knife and you can mod it any way you want. It may be better for you, but if I didn't want the "nub" there, I would not have designed it in. I would not recommend taking it off unless you are really sure you don't want it, because you can't add it back in.

sal

@ marty bill: Cool looking Shaman, and fine if you like it better that way (concerning the "bump")

But I have to say: I don´t even own a Shaman, just could handle it - and while I noticed (but still did not mind) the "bump" when closing the knife the first three or four times, after that (and so really quick) my hand automatically adapted to it and I did not really notice it anymore...
That´s just me of course, and probably in return I will be bothered by some other things that other people don´t mind! :)

Generally I like the look and the function of the "bump" when the blade is opened.
(And I totally love the Shaman as a whole - it is "the knife I should not like but still do", cause it has features I normally don´t prefer (like thicker stock, a bit more weight, not too much cutting edge) but as a whole package is just perfect and feels so great in hand...)

Absolutely each to there own! I'm just showing what I did. And dig it. I tried to get used to it. I bought it in Golden last year and really tried. Mostly on closing the knife it bothered me the most. Sal your right once off you can't put it back and I'm sure it's a safety item. I do not regret taking it off and it's made my Shaman more usable for me. That's all.
And the last thing is I've not seen anyone shave it off and what it looks like or how it performed. I highly do not not recommend it unless your sure it benefits you.
