Urban updates...

Straight from Sal posted on EdgeMatters...

“We've modified the pivot on the FRN version by adding a metal insert with a flat spot to stop the rotation.

The Damasteel Urban will be made in Maniago, and it is scheduled for Ivory G-10.”

Was Ivory G10 the forum's winner from respective poll? I don't remember, and am too lazy to look it up. Some brain on the forum will know for sure. ;)

Also, thanks for the update, Chris! What a great moment this will be when this knife drops! And how very VERY disappointing it would be to miss it! There better be enough for all of us true forumites......

I think my heart stopped for a moment!!! Hurray! My perfect knife! Okay, I guess we cannot expect it by Christmas, but maybe, just maybe.

It’s a private forum, due to U.K. knife paranoia but here it is ...

Sal's mentioned it here too - look at the bombshell thread

I honestly didn't thing the pivot was a big deal, until I noticed minot play on my base model urban, and tried to tighten the pivot, but alas it was already tight....

Thanks, Chris, for the welcome details.

I wonder if Spyderco will make an exception and offer the CQI insert to needy owners.

A spinning pivot led me to explore Cuscadi scales, as here:

I love the Urban.

The problem with the pivot is that on many of them if one tries to loosen the pivot it just spins. It strips out in the scales. It remains tight, but it cannot be adjusted or the knife taken apart. One of mine did that, the other didn't.

This is great news, thanks for the update Chris.

I support Edgematters with a subscription, but I haven’t visited in quite a while.

I hope they grind it thin, like the K390 version.

Yes, I experienced the same thing while tightening - felt like the force I needed to get it tighter would round the corners of the d bolt

I'd get aftermarket scales, but they're rare and at the minimum cost 2x the price of the knife

Free registration on the site if you're interested. From memory I don't think any personal information except an email address was needed.

So has anyone seen a CQI Urban in the wild yet? (FRN with added metal piece to stop the free-spinning pivot screw)
