Thinking about this one since I skipped the Rex 45. I'd prefer Rex 45 to XHP but my S30V Chief has worked fine for me.

This is the Chief I’ve been referring to for a while... I’m a bit sad to see it in DLC first, was kind of hoping for a satin blade. Might be time for a blade swap with the CF S90V one, since orange/S90V is also a CS theme. ;)

Love the look, but like the shaman the coating was a little to much.

I'm not sure I understand the value proposition for CTS-XHP? From what I've read it has edge retention similar to S30V/S35VN, toughness similar to S35VN, and lower corrosion resistance than either.... What am I missing? Wouldn't this Chief be a lateral move in most regards, and a step down in corrosion resistance as compared to the normal S30V Chief?

Not my choice of colors or steel, but hopefully this means the St. Nick’s version will be out shortly?

Agreed, but it matches previous releases from CS, so it is in keeping with their history. "Gotta collect them all!"

Kind of what I'm wondering. Rex45 seems superior across the board, and the Rex version is cheaper.

At first glance I thought this was DLC S90V and I figured that would make a good summer Chief. But with XHP I'm not sure I'll jump on this. I'd much rather have a DLC 4V assuming those are still coming.

I may pick one up and try to dye the scales dark green, and if it turns out bad dye them black. I think this would be the only way to currently get a blacked out Chief.

Mixed thoughts.

if your knife has xhp etched on the blade, it's automatically better than all the ones that have s30v. you get basically the same performance, but a little added steel nerd street cred.

honestly, i've loved xhp in my manix 2 lw, but that made more sense to me over bd1. between xhp and s30v, i'd only choose xhp if they were priced closely or i really wanted the color combination being offered.

I was gonna say, this is a nice "problem" to have. Usually I love models that get 1 or no sprints. Being able to pick and choose which sprints I want out of a handful is pretty awesome :D

Meanwhile I'm STILL continuing on with nothing new since late November! I'm pretty sure this a record for me...though I guess buying a BM, a couple CRK's and a Bradford does fill that void :p

Awaiting something new and exotic, jaw dropping but also functional and not a gimmick *looking at you Pochi*

A Police4 LW in this configuration (DLC or Satin) would be fantastic, although I gotta say, it would be even better in S90V... I'm in for this one -- and FWIW I like XHP, it's easy to get wicked sharp. :D

Cheers

I want it! Doh, I don't need it...but I'll have to buy it on the secondary market when I have the cash.

I think I found a Spyderco to collect. You know. Other than all those other Spydercos that I collect, hahahahaha...

This will be the first iteration of the Chief I dont buy. Not a fan of Orange in the slightest, but for Rex45 I was willing to buy and dye. XHP doesn't really call my name. DLC is nice.

I will say this, 30 seconds in Racing Red RIT Dye-More (7parts water, 1 part dye) will have that looking like a St. NICKS Exclusive.

I'm very happy for all of you that love bright orange and love the Chief. My wallet is happy I'm not one of you, though. Unfortunately there's never a shortage of other things to tempt me. ;) ;)
