Covid 19 is going to mess up delivery times for the foreseeable future. Nobody anywhere is at 100%. If it were up to me, I would pause the Reveals in order to help set realistic customer expectations. Or do more mini-Reveals on models that are confirmed to be 4 weeks out.
that would make sense if there hadn't been 22 exclusives already this year. no idea how many in the last year since reveal 5.
don't get me wrong, the exclusives bring us some cool, unique options, but i'd rather see the normal production models available instead of the constant, frantic exclusives cycle.
We don't know how long the lead time is on Exclusives, nor how much they were or were not delayed. They also likely get priority since they are at least partially paid up front by the group that ordered them.
I also agree that I'd rather see what Eric, Sal, & others have up their sleeves vs the Nth iteration of the same thing.

I'd be curious to hear Sal and others thoughts on the Reveals, now that we've had a few.
Were they an improvement on the way we used to do it? (Announce new models individually as they were being developed). I personally thought this method allowed for more community input on designs.
I remeber we stopped doing it that way because of complaints from people that it was taking too long from when they heard of the new model to when they actually got it in hand.
Has switching to the Reveal method helped that at all?
The Rex45 Native Chief took well over a year to drop. That was crazy.
There have been enough delayed models that the Reveals have become no more useful than the catalog in terms of expectations. I understand that the pandemic has disrupted business. Perhaps Spyderco should pause the Reveals.

Yup. We’re into the fifth month for the 2021 standard catalog, and some knives still haven’t been released. I’m suspect the same is true for previous reveals, but I’ve stopped paying close attention. There’s no sense in getting excited about something that could be a year away.

So true. I wish I had the same patience..
Michael 48 Spydies, 44 different models, 43 different steels . Grail knife, still to be acquired: original Tuff by Ed SchemppFeel free to help me find one at a reasonable price...
I would surely hold no grudge against Spyderco should they decided to skip one Reveal. The delivery dates of already revealed/announced products keep being pushed (e.g. Cruwear/Micarta PM2 - is now supposed to arrive to DE in early June).
I think every time this thread gets bumped they push it back a day...
Oh wait...oops. :o
Well, another day added :D
This is the first time in history that I'm anxiously waiting for some models to come up.
Haven't bought anything that wowed me for some time, just from boredom, so hope we get some of the forum discussed models and options *cough* left hand Para3 *cough* :D
I'm surprised this wasn't released/announced this week. For the past two years the second Reveals of the year were released the first week of May. Hopefully we get it next week!
