Can we have a Pepper Series of knives (as opposed to Salts)

#1

Post by bruce91748 »

So I like the lightness of the new LC200N Salt series of knives as both the Pacific and the Salt 2 cut so well and yet so very light, but yet balanced perfectly in my hand. But there are minute differences between these and the Endura and Delicas they evolved from and I understand why the Salt series has steeper thumb ramps, larger thumb holes, etc. but since many of us would still like the new steel and the lightness of these knives and don't wear gloves - a new line of Pepper series of knives would be nice to have. My perfect model of be a Junior Caribbean or an Endela that weigh in at 2.1 or 2.2 oz. and don't make the thumb hole too large.

Do you mean standard non Salt models with linerless Salt style handles?

Oh, I thought you were advocating that the knife would come with a rusty blade and a tetanus shot.

I'm in for this one.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

That’s my guess. And I like the idea, except I like the larger thumb holes.

My first thought was that the Pepper knives would be a dedicated series of kitchen knives :)

That was also my first thought. Dedicated kitchen folders with enhanced corrosion resistance and improved edge retention.

Maybe a "Pepper Series" could have black ( coated) blades. And they could also have anti-corrosive properties as well.

With the Salt Series being primarily for use around Salt Water environments you could designate the "Pepper Series" for being around fresh water or non corrosive environments.

Marketing tools can be quite interesting to say the least.

In my opinion, calling something a "pepper" series would diminish the value of the name "Salt" series and should be avoided. If it's not designated as a "Salt series" knife, then consider it a "pepper" series, just without the pet name.

The Native 5 Salt has the same size hole as the regular Native 5 LW, and it has no thumb ramp. The rest of the Native 5 line is also liner-less.
