Oh Sal, is it too soon to start thinking a Salt Stretch 2 in LC200N?

I have approved of the sample, but we're considering a name change to designate the drop point blade from the straight spine version.

sal
That sounds like a confusing change. Every other model has a name with a standard blade shape and if there is a blade variant then it's the model name + the blade shape. Manbug vs Manbug Wharncliffe. With the current naming scheme this should be Stretch 2 vs Stretch 2 Drop Point, right? I remember you were thinking maybe the name Stretch had something to do with lack of sales. If that's still the case then i think both blades shapes should receive the name upgrade. :)

p.s. Crucarta Stretch.

Hi Buddafucco,

Good argument, I'll back down. Same name: Stretch 2 and Stretch XL. For what it's worth, some of the managers have expressed their preference to keep the same name.

Oh Sal, is it too soon to start thinking a Salt Stretch 2 in LC200N?

This would be cool... as would be the several times discussed already Endela ("mediterranean") Salt... and a Rock-/Leaf Jumper Salt.

Here the "naming thing" comes into play too - resp. how to call linerless / lighter weight /rustproof versions, considering the marketing
As I tried to make as a point when starting the thread about how to possibly market the Salt 2 ffg (viewtopic.php?t=88925), which is not "only" rustproof but also superlight and by that a perfect model for the "ultralight" "hiking" crowd and generally for all who like to carry knives like the superlight BM Bugout:
If one "just" calls them "Salt" and focuses on the total rustproofness when marketing these models, a certain chunk of the market might be missed.
Actually, if I weren´t into Spydero, I might overlook a "Salt" version of the Stretch, Endela... cause I´d only see the rustproof aspect (which I personally don´t need) but not the light weight aspect (which I occasionally like to have).
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

This is the one for me, as well. I tried the Endela but it didn’t fit my hand at all well, surprisingly.

I have the Hap40 Stretch 1 and it fits like a glove, so I have high hopes for the SSS.

Being a Stretch 2 & straight spine also squeezes it under my “no duplicates” bar...

I would also much prefer a drop point Stretch K390. I hope we get them too. I may have to get a straight spine either way.

Hey, Sal. Unsure who you’re responding to here. Are you just talking about how to name Stretch variants, or are you also suggesting that a K390 drop-point Stretch is in the cards?

Any updates on Stretch XL? Cruwear confirmed as initial steel? FRN color? Will we see in 2021? I am really excited for this one!

FWIW, I like Blade HQ a lot and preordered from them as well. That said, for whatever reason, they are often last of the big vendors to receive new models. Both may K390 Dragonfly preorder and my Z-Wear Shaman wishlist came what seemed like a month after all the other big names had dropped.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

I've had this one on pre-order since it was first announced. Can't wait to compare it to the Endela. May have to get a 2nd for addon micarta scales.
K-390 on hand: Mule Team 17, Police 4 G-10, Endela (burlap micarta), Endela backup, Endura (canvas micarta), Straight Stretch (now blade-swapped with G-10 Stretch), Delica Wharncliffe, Dragonfly Wharncliffe, & Dragonfly Wharncliffe shorty mod
Note to self: Less is more.

Oh my first one is definitely getting micarta scales. I don't love the teal frn, and I love micarta, so it's no question.

And I can´t wait for your comparison... ;)

Both great models, and very different in many aspects... I prefer the Stretch 1 over the Stretch 2, so for me it was not too hard to let my SS Stretch 2 (Ivory) go and keep the Endela, since I have several Stretch 1 (my most preferred Stretch version) already

But if there was NO Stretch 1... tough choice, if I had to decide between SS Stretch 2 and Endela...

Hi Steelcity,

We're beginning tooling. No decisions on steel, color or anything else. I know we'll make a blue K390. We'll probably make a black VG-10. Other wise open. I'd personally like to intro an ivory FRN version, as a sprint, but we'll see.
