CBN Benchstone Comparison Question

How does the new CBN Benchstone from Spyderco compare in coarseness to the DMT benchstones (coarse/X-coarse/XXCoarse, etc.)? I'm curious which DMT grit it's closest to.

I have both, and in my opinion the coarse cbn is more aggressive than the coarse dmt, the fine cbn is comparable to the fine dmt, but I find the cbn fine cuts faster. Hope this helps.

That is helpful, thank you. Which do you prefer DMT diamond vs. CBN?

I already have a set of DMT benchstones (X-coarse, Coarse, and Fine), and I'm wondering if it's perhaps redundant to buy a Spyderco CBN benchstone (other than the fun and novelty of trying a new sharpening platform).

I got the 400/800 Spyderco CBN bench stone because my ancient 325 DMT plate was worn out after 30 years of use. If your diamond plates are in good condition and cover the same grit range, then I’ll say the CBN is not something you need.
