That little Seecamp grouping made me laugh.

Sure do love that gun.

Pretty cool, and totally unexpected
But THIS version should really come in SE (too).
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

I would be interested in a Para 3 version, but this whole exclusive deal does not work that well outside of the US. I would love it if Spyderco would produce these regularly, or as sprints so retailers in europe could source them.
It was already quite bad that every interesting blade steel was some store exclusive, now blade shapes are exclusive, with pretty limited numbers. What's next, bringing back the Slysz bowie for BladeHQ?

I like it but I'm happy with the Wharnies I already have. Probably won't buy one

Blade shapes being exclusives is really not too great, agreed. If that actually means that Spyderco can´t do regular production wharnie or tanto PM2s anymore at all. But perhaps they still can, by just modifying the bladeshape a bit (but so that it is still remaining a tanto or wharncliffe?)

But concerning steels: With the Para 3 that you like, there are actually several s are not exclusives, right?
If one counts G10 an LW Para 3 there is at least S30V, BD1N, S110V, Maxamet, SPY 27 and REX 45 (ok, a sprint, but not an exclusive) - not too bad?!

Interesting. I agree with Wartstein, a SE version should really be made for this.

So BladeOps has the Emerson, BladeHQ has the Tanto, Cutlery Shoppe has the Wharnie.... who will drop what next?

I agree it's not the most aesthetically pleasing PM2 I've ever seen, but I wouldn't base buying it or not based on that alone, I do think I'll pass on being a early adopter, but if/when an SE model is offered, I'm SOOOO there. ;) :D

Cheers,

John

I do have a Maxamet Para 3 and I am quite happy with that. I know Spyderco offers a great deal of different steels already.
I just hope that the exclusive line does not get too out of hand to the detriment of regular production.

It might look a little off but I bet it is a workhorse. I’m intrigued.
A little off ? It looks downright ugly to me. I'm still happy to see pm2 with different blade shapes though, I've been asking it for years.

Give me that bowie PM2 !

I have a hard time getting excited about knives with detent-based locking systems, but a Wharncliffe Police (Salt) could be a monster, especially if it's given the same blade angle as the Endura. :)

ETA: this PM2 looks like it'll be great and should make alot of people happy!

I want to like it... But between the Yojimbo, Yojumbo, Canis, and Endura 4 wharncliffe Im not sure what this does that the others dont.

Im still sure it will sell out in minutes.

Its pretty bad how much better a modified caribbean looks compared to this.

If it's the difference between a tanto or a wharncliffe pm2 being made and not being made at all, I guess the blade shape exclusives are a good thing. But I don't like it. I dont like that if I ever want a Tanto pm2 I have to get it from BHQ, or CS if I want a Wharncliffe, or Bladeops for a wave. I feel like it's a big limitation on great designs. And designs that regular people will never get to handle because they get snatched up by the flippers and afi's.

Where the difference between S30V and M390 might be lost on the average user, the design and functionality of a wharncliffe, tanto, or wave would not be.

My 2 cents.

Being a 900 piece one time run, this is an easy pass for me living outside the US.

On the other hand, the sheepscliffe Caribbean of Evil D should be regular production, with the cool muted scale color that he used.
