New to forum, first post. Looking to get my first Spyderco knife.
How hard is it to sharpen the serrayyed blades and what tool would one use?
For non-serrated anyone use a Lansky to sharpen their blades?
Welcome to the forum!
"How hard is it to sharpen" is a bit "hard to answer"
without more specific details on what knife and especially what STEEL you´re thinking of - perhaps you can let us know?
If you want something pretty easy to sharpen, but still with decent edge retention, VG10 and BD1N are always great choices (or the 8CRMOV of the "budget line Spydies")
But with the right tools you´ll be able to sharpen most of Spydercos steels, if you invest a bit time to learn and also a bit MORE time to sharpen on harder steels.
What is always a good thing: Don´t let your knives get dull in the first place, but rather touch them up frequently.
I´d strongly recommend getting a sharpmaker, especially if you plan to sharpen serrated blades! It is a great tool and will handle serrations (but also plain edges) perfectly well.
Top three going by pocket-time: Endura 4 in VG 10/Micarta-scales; Stretch 1 in VG 10; Endura 4 in HAP 40
