I would not mind seeing a new Persian. But, I'd rather have a new Kris ;)

I voted 'maybe' because i frankly wouldn't care for a FFG full G10 or FRN handled one. Now a bolstered, micarta or wood handle on the other hand.. Don't care too much about steel either as long as it's = > VG10.

A medium one with a 3.25” blade, bolster, red or ivory G10, hollow ground, 20CV or M390 steel. Jewell !

This is almost exactly what I was thinking as well. An ivory model in particular would make a really beautiful knife and hasn't been done before. Very nice!

Hollow grind for sure.
Re bolsters, is copper/brass doable? It would provide more of that traditional feel. But it needs to rhyme with the handle material, so depends what that would be. Wood, micarta would be nice..
As for the steel, VG10 is fine, but traditional persian blades are not SS, they have patinas. So maybe something like 52100, k390?

I like the original hollow grind and bolsters, but of the two, keeping the bolsters is way more important. I find the Persian 2 to be way less appealing, mostly due to the lack of bolsters. Sure, the v2 was more utilitarian, but it lacked the beauty of the original.

Steel choice isn't super important to me, but something a little nicer than VG-10 would be good just from a marketing standpoint. Personally, I'd love a Damascus Persian (but not the DPS-15 patterned stuff), but that's probably not a very viable option unless it were just a sprint run and don't know how well they'd sell at the increased price Damascus would demand.

I think a polished G-10 or a CF handle would look great, but would prefer G-10 for cost savings. Textured G-10 didn't look nearly as good on the v2, so I'd avoid that. I've seen some nice woods used on aftermarket mods, so wouldn't say no to a wood handle, especially something well figured or burled.

So.... from what I’m reading

SS Bolster: Yes
Handle/Ivory G10: Yes
Finger Choil: Yes
Size: Medium or Large
Steel: VG-10 or better like K390, M390, etc.
Hollow grind: Yes

Sign. Me. Up.

I’m definitely interested.
That would be one classy knife.
Let’s just say, K390 with that swooping belly and hollow grind?!
Wooooo Weeee that’ll be a H3LL of a Slicer for Sure!

I’ll be following this, you have my interest.

Has there ever been a variant without a finger choil? (No Persian expert, just know the bolstered one and the one without (Persian 2 I guess..?))

I believe there hasn’t been a version without it, no.

The maroon one is another level. Even if it is just G10, it looks awesome.

For me, the ideal Schempp Persian would have smooth bolsters, a full flat grind blade of VG-10 or something at least as rust resistant, polished G-10 scales (preferably affixed with screws so they could be replaced), and no Boye dent.

Yes, but... can we get a lightweight? The more I carry lightweights, the more I mostly want to carry lightweights.

I love that tip. I love that choil. I love the palm swell. I supposed I mostly like it because it reminds me of a Stretch. Maybe I should just go buy another one... ;-)
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

My ideal would be bolstered, hollow ground, non-black micarta, wood or polished g10. For steel, something stainless would be nice (spy27 would be great). I generally prefer screw construction, but pins really work with this design, particularly with the bolsters.

Depends on the price. The Seki models (other than the FRN classics) have really gotten expensive to make.

Hollow grind and bolster. There are way too few hollow grinds in the Spyderco lineup (one could say in a pinch that the Stretch is a Persian-ish blade with a flat grind and without a bolster). Steel - something nice and stainless - CTS-XHP, m390, etc. Handle material - please no G10 ... maybe carbon fibre or some nice wood. I think the knife should remain unique and not become a Persian-shaped Paramilitary.
