K390 SE Hawkbill?

#1

Post by legOFwhat? »

Who would like to see a FFG K390 SE Hawkbill now that we have K390 in Spyderedge?

I'd like a DF2 hb myself :D

I'd be more interested in PE, FFG CPM 4V, but sure, I'd take serrated K390 too.

Make sure it is FFG, though.

I fixed it, I'd have to have it that way :)

Yep, and for me, any of these (4v, K390, SE, etc.) in a recurve design as well!
I just really like recurves of any kind, Hawkbills included.

I voted a firm and adamant YES!! I've been wanting a good "user" type Hawkbill in one of the Supersteels for quite some time now.

I would love a HARPY and SPYDERHAWK model both in K390.

Also this could also be a Golden Opportunity to fix a past mistake. The short lived SUPERHAWK model which never got a chance in full Spyderedge>>because it was only ever available in PE>> this would be great to also give us a SUPERHAWK in full SE with K390 as well.

The Timing on this idea is just perfect.

Heck YES!! A ULIZE in full SE with either of those steels would be super. And if those came out the same time our new Sprint Run C-60 Ayoob would come out that would be awesome!!

A Spyker model in full SE with a Supersteel would be apropos as well.

I don't know that I need a tool steel version of this knife, but I would like to see a FFG SE hawkbill.

I think that LC200N would broaden the market a bit here - it seems hawkbills are most useful around cordage as in boat work.

I'm happy either way, though.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

I want any new Spyderhawk SE. H1, LC200N, K390, or all three. I'll keep saying there needs to be a new updated Spyderhawk 2 Salt SE in the permanent lineup. I don't care if it is H1 or LC200N. Either one. Or both. K390 would be cool too, but I still think they should do a production Salt version first. It is easily the number 1 model I'd pick to bring back into the lineup.

One more vote for a PE Dragonfly Hawkbill FFG in K390. G-10 would also really seal the deal.

Now that we have a K390 P4 LW, Whardelica, and Wharnfly... A hawkbill Dfly in K390 would pretty much check off the last box on my K390 needs list.

I certainly won't object to your vote of a DragonHawk in K390>> But I'm not exactly sure what the advantages would be for a smaller Hawkbill model in a Supersteel blade.

I can see where it would make a significant difference in a larger model like a Harpy or bigger.

Getting back to the SUPERHAWK>> a model I've thought for years that never got a chance because it was only available in PE which I never understood. But now we all know without even a shred of a doubt that Hawkbill blades are far more efficient in SE.

So to give the Superhawk a second chance in SE with a K390 blade would be an awesome seller IMO.

Having not tried a serrated k390 model and not knowing how they perform, I cannot answer.

I love 8cr13mov (Byrd hawkbill), VG-10, H1, lc200n and so far s35vn in serrated edges and honestly I don’t know if I’d need more steel choices honestly. The Byrd hawkbill, VG-10, and lc200n pretty much do it for me personally. I’m all for pushing the limits, but for me personally I could just see more models offered in these current steels, with full serrations and the full flat grind.

Yes indeed to the SuperHawk, I can't imagine they would not blow through a sprint run in no time flat, I would buy two SE & two PE immediately.
