Hacking Knife

OK, OK, I know this is far below Spyderco's ability and reputation. BUT, I find this $19 knife really useful.

As you prolly already know, a hacking knife is used for applications where the spine is hammered into material; typically to remove old putty from window frames. Good hacking knives are differentially tempered with the spine soft and the edge hard(er). Don't know the steel; some mid-high carbon steel that is tough as heck, corrodes easily, sharpens easily and keenly, and doesn't chip. It slices thin strips of paper just as well as my nice Spydercos (when freshly sharpened...but needs resharpening lots faster). 10 swipes on the medium stones and it's back to slicing.

I would love a Spyder'd creation of a crude working knife with, say, AEB-L steel, and would pay 3-4x the price for it. Although I *might not* hit it with a hammer as freely as I do this blade.

PS: Researching around, this knife is sometimes mentioned as a "poor man's bushcraft knife."
