45th Anniversary Knife?

#1

Post by Sharp Guy »

Do you think Spyderco will do a special knife to commemorate their 45th anniversary?

If so, should we start another poll to vote on what it should be or should we just carry over from the forum knife poll?

Ok I'm joking about the poll but I am wondering about the anniversary knife

I want a production version of the original Spyderco. It should be made in Golden, if possible.

Well, that was a handmade prototype. I'm fairly confident Sal would clean it up some. However, a true replica would be a hoot!

Another worker sprint could be pretty cool. K390 or something for the steel.

I would bet the decision to make one and what model was decided some time ago. Perhaps even a year or more. Sal is always mentioning the long queues and lead times.

But I’ll add my wish of a Damasteel Military with the 45th on the blade like the Anniversary Native. And CF too of course. :spyder:

Agreed.

I think they really did a good job on the Bombshell's numbering being discreet.

As for a model, I want a modern SE Worker.

Yea, this sounds about right. The original might be a bit too much.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

A modern worker would be awesome!

My wish would be Damasteel, Burgundy Micarta and blacked out hardware.

Not to kill the mood, but unless they already planned something last year, anything started this year wouldn't be in production until next year or the year after, if not later.

Agreed. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are planning their 50th already :spyder:

If it is 45th Anniversary, then why not use Spyderco's own steel? I would suggest the Delica, a classic Spyderco and Spyderco made its early knives in Japan, didn't it?

I don't think Spyderco is in a position to make any 45 Anniversary or Forum knives right now. Sal said in another thread the following:

Covid has messed with many US companies, Spyderco included. We're still producing, but we're all spread out and everything just takes longer. Things that we could do in a day, not takes a week or more, especially in R & D.
