Exposed blade on Mantra 3

#1

Post by tgreenwell14 »

Hi,

I just purchased a Mantra 3 and was handling it today and noticed that when it is closed there is a fair bit of blade exposed along the compression lock. I actually cut a line along my thumb nail accidentally and am surprised I have not cut my thumb. Has anyone else noticed blade exposure on their Mantra 3? I have trouble imagining this is a general thing and there not be a big fuss like there was with the Tropen and Ikuchi and have not found any comments or threads about this on the Mantra like with the Tropen or Ikuchi. I am probably returning this little guy if it is a general issue and not a quality control problem covered by warranty (as rare as those are out of Taichung). I don't love the weak detent either, but I can tolerate that. This is my second Spyderco with a compression lock (I purchased a Para 3 LW which I love) and my Para 3 LW does not have any exposed blade.

Thanks!
