This is the factory edge of my K390 Endura Light after contact with an unfriendly surface. I didn't notice it at the time. :o

Look inside the handle and see if the blade can make contact with the lock mechanism when the lock is depressed.

Dang, what did it hit? It took an aggressive cut into a really thick staple to finally wreck the edge on mine.

As Sal says, I'll need to learn how to sharpen. I suspect that that's a life long process. ;)
The contact was minor and not during an aggressive cut, it just tapped a metal surface because I was not paying attention. The picture is magnified and the chip is pretty small, so jpm2 is correct!

Factory edge problems!

That’ll sharpen out pretty quickly and i suspect the edge will hold up better after a sharpening or two.

Love the reaction from Sal. So true👍
Sharpening skill is must for every knife user. I think that You are lucky its K390 steel. Many other steel would be damaged much, much more.

Is k390 that bad to learn to sharpen on? That doesn't look that bad.

You should look forward to putting an edge on this one! K390 is pretty fun to sharpen.

And I totally feel it, I’ve used a lot of different steels at work, and even s90v will dent when bashed into a countertop :D . Good to see people really using their knives though, keep it up!
Lightly insane.

I dinged mine up pretty bad cutting up an orange on a tile countertop. That didn't hurt as bad as the pits I got because I didn't clean some lime juice off fast enough. Oops!

I've been using my K390 Endela since last Monday and I'm extremely impressed with the edge retention of this steel. It may pass Rex45 as my favorite steel once I do my finishing test tomorrow. Now I just need this steel in a Manix!! Does it really seem to chip/roll easily for others? I haven't had any issues in the warehouse yet.

I haven't had issues with edge damage on my k390 pm2, and I've dropped that, blade down, onto sidewalk stones. I'm pretty surprised to see people experiencing "easy" edge damage. I'm also pretty surprised that we haven't seen k390 on a Manix or Shaman exclusive yet. I'm hoping that covid just delayed ones already in the works.

Me too, I thought it would be comparable to Rex45 and 4V. Seems to be for me so far. Still shaving sharp and refreshing to hear about that toughness! I sold my Cruwear Manix...so I've got room for another now :)
