Still looking for UKPK in new steels and colors

Post by Doc Dan »

I am still looking for the UKPK to be made and new steels and new colors. What steals and colors would you all like to see?

I'm certain a lot of people are on board with this. Having three UKPK already, I would much rather see the return of the Caly 3.

It will probably be tough to knock the S110V and BD1 UKPKs out of my pocket, but I wouldn't mind having a couple other steels.

The Caly 3 would be nice, too.

Whoever did the S90V Delica should definitely look into the S90V Caly 3. :D

The Caly3 is great, but for a day to day pocket knife the UKPK is really hard to beat. A lot of people think like I do on this. I also like the Urban, but the UKPK has a better action.

BD1N is pretty fine, so even if there is no steel upgrade I'd like to see some other colors than black.

Heinie Haynes has been selling their red G10 S30V UKPK's like hotcakes. I'd like the rest of us to have that same option: G10 and a nice steel upgrade.

I carry a primary and secondary knife. What I normally carry in my front pocket is pretty close to a UKPK, so I always end up picking something different for my back pocket. Dragonfly, Squeak, Urban and Pingo are pretty nice options.

I think the UKPK really benefits from g10. FRN is nice enough I suppose, and I think the FRN/BD1N version of the UKPK represents one of the best values in the Spyderco lineup.. but g10 really elevates the model, imo. I think SPY27 and a nice cobalt blue g10 would make for a really nice UKPK variation..

First and foremost I wish they grind the blade thinner behind the edge. Give me the UKPK with a SPY27 blade, ground < 0.020” bte and a cobalt blue G10 handle. That would be a helluva spydie. As a side note for Doc, the Urban is way thinner behind the edge. Better action you say ...hmm... I say stiffer is better 😬

I’d love to see something like 52100 or Rex45.
That is why I voted Spy27 and blue handle color, but also chose the burnt orange and “other” options.

I like slip joint knives and use a non-locking Spyderco a lot. A steel akin LC200N would be welcome as well for when I’m out on the water.

I’m generally choosing steels that resist damage at the edge well and/or are more stable with thin grinds because of the way I like to use my knives.
A good combination of “laser” cutting and the occasional less than gentle use on tough materials. I also appreciate a pleasant sharpening experience.
rex121 is the king of steel, but nature’s teeth have been cutting for hundreds of millions of years and counting

Please more G10 in either ukpk or urban forms - they're light enough, and I personally love the plain g10 way more than the frn texture on these slip-its

I'd quite like LC200N with a brown g10 or Spy27 with blue FRN.

I think anything not black looks a bit less tactical which is nice on an edc slippit.

Wouldn't say no to a wharncliffe or sheepsfoot version either.

Personally, I'd just like to see the red G10 and S30V UKPK I ordered from Heinie... In March.

DLC coated CruWear with a grey or brown handle would be different enough from the existing choices. FRN or G10 handle. LC200N with a subdued handle color would be good, too.
Love the UKPK.

Still waiting for the HH UKPK to arrive.

I had an idea about a ukpk salt, but it didnt seem to gain much traction really. Not like the DAMAUKPK in July. The Damasteel version is gonna be a looooong time coming I feel.

I would very much like to see some more variants to the model.

The Urban is a really good slicer, for sure. I do like it and I alternate carrying the UKPK and Urban. The Urban is just right for a city pocket knife, I think. I just wish the action was a little less "stiff". I would love to get my wife one of these, but she cannot open or close either of mine, not safely, anyway. She has no problem with the UKPK.

Sweet Jebus, yes!! A dark gray G10 Maxamet with the same excellent finish as the other Golden Maxamet blades would be phenomenal! :D

Color is just color. I used all my votes for the different steels. I can always do the RIT dye thing to change the color. There's nothing I can do about the steel. I will say I'd love some linerless G10.
