A 2020 Spyderco story

#1

Post by samdasnake »

So my father is getting up there in age and has some memory issues these days. He was so kind and bought me a Swayback for the holidays. And now he can't find it :( We've basically turned his house upside down for two days but no luck. Who knows what he did with it. I just feel so bad for him because he's upset and I think more than a little embarrassed. I told him it's just a thing and we'll find it eventually... Maybe it'll turn up next time he moves. So that's my Spyderco story for the season. Very 2020.

What's the Latin for "I put it in a safe place!" - cos it should be my family's motto!
These things always turn up eventually... and in this case, every time you look at that Swayback it'll take you Wayback.

Hopefully it turns up on a day you're feeling down and really need a boost, then it'll feel that much more special...here's to hoping that'll be a "very 2021" story. ;)

It's in his chair, between the cushion and the arms or the back. I've had to turn my father's chair upside down to get a knife out of the mesh on the underside.

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys. It is just so strange - it's not like he was carrying the knife. It was still in it's zipper pouch. It's in his house somewhere. Just a matter of time. Mostly I just feel bad for my dad bc I know how embarrassed he is.

I he never left the house with it then it will turn up eventually.

Getting old sucks! I am not even that old yet and I forget stuff all the time. I’m going to be a mess in my 70’s.

The un-2020 thing here is that you're spending time together, rather than isolated out of an abundance of caution. Nothing better for an old timer with memory issues than time with loved ones. Good on you. Hope your Swayback turns up sooner rather than later.
