The molds have a finite lifespan as well, so maybe you are seeing the results of a mold replacement?

My Pacific Salt 2 feels a little "rougher" than my other Seki FRN knives. Part of that might be because I haven't carried the Pacific yet. Even FRN tends to soften and smooth a bit with carry, so that might be one reason why.

That’s a good point about mold wear. Hot nylon with thousands of short, abrasive glass fibers gets injected under very high pressure into those molds, thousands of times per day.

I haven't noticed a difference yet, but pocket-wear can smooth out the FRN texture - even a tiny bit.
