Happy Halloween! Meet the world's spookiest Watu!

#1

Post by Abyss_Fish »

Howdy! I've been getting a ton of work done on my Watu by @Karbadize. He does spectacular work and I'm honored to own a project by him. Most people I've seen doing scale projects go the natural route, I went way in the opposite direction.

Image

It's got smooth jade g10 scales, which are milled to put a tad extra pressure on the stop pin. Since I've found that helps with centering. They're slightly translucent which I absolutely love. Then Karb drilled through the liners back behind the clip standoff, and put a CRK style lanyard pin in. Basically a pin with a hole in it. Here's a closer look:

Image
Image

The lanyard is 325 cord with a gitd bead from @wkrmn, a designer who's local to me. This knife is absolutely spectacular, and now she's even prettier. Now here's an unflattering picture of my hand.

I know this isn't my usual 4 page rant, and don't worry I'll have one for you later, but I thought you guys would appreciate this more than most of my friends do :D
Lightly insane.

Happy Halloween! Cool scales on the Watu.

I have a few of those beads from WKRMN too! I'm a big fan of his work.

Isn’t this the truth? This is why I don’t carry an nice/expensive knife to impress people, because most people will be just as impressed by a $15 rainbow Amazon knife lol. Great looking knife though!! I love that bead, and all the little modifications that you can’t really see are awesome.

Does that complexity decrease the simplicity? Not at all.

My boss carried one of those double bladed batman knives for years and loved it. At least one of the sous chefs carries crkts...

Nice! If interesting aftermarket micarta Watu scales start popping up at the usual custom scale places I'll probably be helpless to resist getting one.

Scare me speechless and drain the color out of me!

I usually dislike natural g10 as scale material but the concept and execution here is awesome. The ghost bead complements the build and the machining on that g10 is flawless. Not doing that to my Watu anytime soon but as a custom build, your knife is spooktacular!

I have the feeling we need a Watu BB (Big Brother) say with a blade around 4 to 4.5 inches.

The Chokwe was pretty close at 3.75".

Very nicely done. That makes me think that the Watu should be released in M4 as the first sprint...

Looks awesome!!! I’m loving my Watu. The blade is an absolute laser! The fit & finish and centering is also perfect.

It's cool for sure, but calling the other scales people are getting for the Watu the "natural route" is kind of funny...since these are the "natural" G10 color. I was honestly expecting something pretty exotic, but definitely cool. I love the BHQ Exclusives, spot on impersonation.

Although not close by design, I think I'll buy the Spyderco Fish Hunter in H1 for a daily carry. I can get it from a couple places with PayPal, it's corrosion proof and it has a 4.63 Inch blade.

I rarely carry fixed blades, otherwise I would have that one too. I really like it.
