2020 Spyderco Factory Seconds Sale

We are excited to announce the Factory Seconds Sale is on for 2020! The event will take place over two days, Friday, Nov. 20th, and Saturday, Nov. 21st. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s event will look quite different from previous years.

Here’s some of what you can expect:

• The Seconds Sale will be hosted in an open-air tent in the Spyderco parking lot.

• To control crowd size, we will be using a reservation system (more details to come).

• Camping, gathering, and long-term parking on Spyderco property is not allowed.

• We are working closely with local officials to ensure appropriate protocols are met.

• We are taking all possible precautions to protect our customers and staff. These will include face coverings, temperature checks, 6’ social distancing, and one-way traffic.

Regardless of how careful, thoughtful, or prepared, we all are, the Seconds Sale could be cancelled at any time due to circumstances beyond our control. Please keep watching Spyderco social media channels for updates and announcements, and we will see you in Golden soon!

And it's a good thing it's not this weekend. As an example, Golden, is expecting a partly cloudy day with a high temperature of 63°F today. (17.2°C) Tomorrow the forecast is for 22°F (-5.5°C) with 10" (25.4 cm) of snow.

For those of you traveling from out of town for the sale, dress for everything. I don't know which would be worse, carrying a parka around in the hot SFO or having to wear one for the weather outside.

Only time I went there was snow on the ground outside and it was around (just below) freezing and at least 80° inside. I stood in line for hours outside. Then again inside for maybe an hour. Totally worth it. I think the way they’re doing it this year could be the future. I would prefer this format. That being said I won’t be able to come this year.

If you are still brainstorming ideas for the reservation system, check out EventBrite. It’s a free service (if event entry is free) that will generate event ticketing and it can incorporate time slots to the reservations.

I’ve used it successfully for past large events and can assist in person, over the phone, or screen sharing - if needed.
