Anteater Rescue with Spyderco Waterway

Check out this Anteater rescue performed by my friends down in Panama at Los Buzos kayak fishing lodge. These guys ordered a bunch of Waterways last year to equip all their kayaks. Loved seeing the way this one got used.

-No actual video of them using the knife, just a cameo appearance at 3:12. Still thought it was a cool video worth sharing here.

Yeah he did, haha. I have done a few wild animal rescues like that on furry critters, sea turtles, Pelicans and other water birds in net. They’re in panic mode and have no idea you’re trying to help. Sometimes you have to be pretty focused and stern about how you control them. They might scream, claw, bite and resist and the process doesn’t always look pretty on video. I haven’t talked to those guys but I suspect they filmed the actual release and decided it wasn’t going to be as “social media friendly” as posting just the release at the end. Who knows, that’s just my guess but based on my experience in those scenarios i wouldn’t be surprised if that’s why we didn’t see them cutting him free. Your average guy or gal on social media these days can be pretty disconnected from the reality of those situations but it doesn’t stop them from shouting all kinds of opinions about how you’re not doing it right. :rolleyes: :p
