Rockjumper = wow!

#1

Post by Marko »

I know there is a Rockjumper thread but I just received mine today. No questions, hands down, total keeper. Immediate knife to user connection. Size of handle and blade ratio is perfect. Let me just say that the most striking part about the Rockjumper is how smooth and consistent the lockback is. It’s unlike any other Spyderco lockback I have handled.

I will add that I am not new to knives or Spyderco. I have probably owned anywhere from 60-75 different Spydies over the years.

I really, really hope this becomes a new platform for different steels and blade shapes. It’s begging for a Salt version. I’m personally not a big warncliffe fan but this one is staying with me. Would love to see an option with a little belly in the future.

FWIW, Sal’s designs have always been my favorite, starting with the original Lil’ Temp.

I agree it's so smooth I had to double check and make sure it wasn't a Golden model.

IIRC, Sal has said he's planning a leaf-shaped version. So far this model is getting a lot of love, so if that continues we're sure to see other steels/colors eventually.

I am super excited to see Salts, sprints and exclusives for this in the future. There's something about the wharncliffe design that begs to be done in tool steels and the stainless super steels. Maybe if we all show some love for the RJ, the dealers out there will take notice and take the risk in bringing out exclusives? The SE version practically would be great in Salts.

I've been carrying the RJ exclusively since Sunday. So good :) :spyder:

I can't wait for the leaf blade and have always thought why would I want the same knife in different steels. This one might tip me over the edge.

I really hope it gets all the sprint love that the rest of the Seki family has received.

And *insert broken record sound here* I hope they make an XL version.

- +1 on the XL version, and I don´t mind sounding like t broken record on this one... ;)

- And again: I still wonder if the RJ counts as full member of the "Endura family" - with the implication, that if the whole "family" gets a variant (steel...), the RJ would always be included. I sure hope so
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

I just got my RJ a couple of days ago and I love the design, blade and ergos but mine has a fair bit of up and down play. I'm still not sure if I should send it back, shipping to the US is pricey and takes a while too.

It can´t get much more off topic, but I can´t help: Very cool to have a member from Iceland here! :)

I so want to visit your great island, but never made it yet.. just several times to the very north of Scandinavia..

You should.....once people can travel again haha. You can see a lot of nature in a relatively small place.

Maybe we could do an International all Spyderco event in Iceland?

Back to the RJ, this is a must have knife for me. It is about the right size to always have on your person instead of in a drawer.
