Hello and a story

#1

Post by jbabr »

Just saying Hello and sharing a story.

I use Spyderco knives for a long time, but I try others :-).

It is a story about two brands and quality of build and ease of maintenance... a short story it is indeed :-).

Once I bought a latest (2020) version of a knife, from a company that I would not share... It was beautiful, before a plastic handle, now a steel framelock, same lines, same blade, same old, but better, right? Then I faced a simple task. Remove the clip. Ended with a destroyed screwdriver, destroyed screw, broken pocket clip and ...I needed pliers to extract what has left in the handle after this massacre.

New knife, same task. Spyderco Tenacious FRN. Good looking knife. Solid, good for the pocket, good for the hand, sharp. I need to reposition the pocket clip. I take the screwdriver and hope for the best...and I reposition the clip without any trouble. No bad screws, no broken tools, no broken clips. Screws out, screws in. DONE! :-)

The knives were made in China. It is the attention to detail and the quality control that makes the difference and makes Spyderco the maker that we all like :-)

Soooo GOOD WORK Spyderco Team :-)

Welcome. You've discovered early what I keep having to re-learn. There is one brand of knives I can buy without reading reviews and there are everybody else. I am consistently disappointed when I get a non-Spyderco and I have never once been disappointed with a :spydie:

Enjoy the Tenacious in good health! It's a great knife.

Hey Jbabr,

Welcome to the forums!

The quality of Spyderco knives always impresses me. I've been using them about 10 years now and they never disappoint.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Welcome to the forum. Now you need a Delica and a Manix 2 lightweight.
