Isn't that one of the designs from our good brother "dialex"? He used to chime in quite often but I haven't heard from him in a while. I really liked his Adventura model along with his Battlestation as well. Him and Fred Perrin are two of my favorite knife designers from across the pond.Mushroom wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 10:08 amGood choice! The Junior has been a knife of choice for me as well on many backpacking trips for those reasons.PanChango wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 9:58 amMany of the ones I enjoy are mentioned here. One that I have come to like and use a lot is the Junior. I have been carrying it on overnight bike rides. It works great for food and is light in the pocket. Grabbed this pic from GIS. Mine is not nearly as nice looking any more.

Now why do you think I started this thread in the first place :D . Even with all the newer models we've had in the past 6 years or so>> even with all of those I still like so many of the first generation models that made Spyderco famous in the first place.
And a lot of those designers are no longer with us like Jess Horn, Frank Centofante along with Bob Lum who all unfortunately have passed away. I would love to see what else JD Smith could come up with>> that is if he's still alive. And Ed Scott who designed the IMPALA model is another one I would like to see more designs and collaborations from.
But we do have a new Sprint Run of the C-60 Ayoob coming out soon. I can't hardly wait for the new C-60 Ayoob>> I'm counting down the days my friend :)

That C-50 Centofante was so cool and yet so practical. When I traded both of mine I thought for sure I could get more of them. That was 12 years ago and I've yet to find one in PE or SE.
The Vesuvius was one of the crown jewels from the ATS-34 era. Wasn't one of my favorites but it was a practical design.
The ATS-34 and ATS-55 were the two most intriguing eras in Spyderco's early going IMO.

I feel like such a grumpy old man, but I miss 2000-2010 Spyderco, Benchmade, CRKT, CRK
Re: Completely Forgotten Spyderco Models: Your Favorites?
Well Reject you're taking me down "Memory Lane" showing that RENEGADE model. I've loved that design ever since I got my first one in 2001. I actually EDCed one of my RENEGADE models for almost a year. Then when I got my first C-44 Dyad I started carrying it instead. I ended up trading it>> because I never could get good performance form GIN-1 blade steel. And as far as I know that was the only blade steel it was ever available in.
If they would make a RENEGADE model with a newer/better blade steel I would put one back into my EDC rotation. The one EDCed was a combo edge and as long as that blade was it really made for a great combo edge folder. The RENEGADE was an elegant ergonomic design and I'm holding out hope that at some point they will do a Sprint Run in a newer/better blade steel. I like combo edges but only with longer blades>> and the RENEGADE made for a great combo edged unit.
Edit: Oh there was one other point I forgot to make about the RENEGADE model. It was one of the few models that had the distinction of being made at GOLDEN and also later on at one of the Japan factories as well.

I hope at some point they'll do a Sprint Run of the ROCK LOBSTER. It was in the main line up about the same time the ZULU model was. I had a ZULU until recently when I traded it. The ROCK LOBSTER had a really nice Wharnie type design that would make it a great hunting/fishing and outdoor type blade. It didn't last in the main line up very long and I can't understand why  ?? But during that 2010 to 2013 time slot it seemed like several models didn't last very long in the main line up for whatever reason. It was also a great knife for food use as well.
Re: Completely Forgotten Spyderco Models: Your Favorites?
Hey dude there isn't any thing wrong with you at all :) I'm still stuck in that great era as well :) There is just something about several of those old school Spyders that I will always love. But I still maintain that the ultimate time slot is what I affectionately call "The GOLDEN ERA Of SPYDERS 1998-2004".
But I also like several of the models from 2000 to 2010 as well.
Re: Completely Forgotten Spyderco Models: Your Favorites?
Most people I talk to about the TEMPERANCE 1 model don't even realize that they made a "black blade" version of it. I still have that red handled trainer of the TEMP 1 somewhere in my storage unit. Most of the people that have joined in the past 5 years aren't even aware of it's existence.
If Spyderco were to make a new version of the TEMP 1 in SE & PE using an LC200N blade steel and adding it to the Salt Series I bet they wouldn't be able to keep them on the shelves. It would be an affordable addition to the Salt Series. And if they made it available in SE & PE it would sell like Rolling Stones tickets.

JD; :) some of the knife photos I am submitting may not be of knives "Completely Forgotten" by most people. But I’m getting old and my memory is not as good as it used to be. When again; :o maybe it never was.
