This makes perfect sense because as long as that blade is there really isn't any practical way to carry it in a fixed blade format. Even if it's just a FRN handle I would be much more tempted to own one. I've never owned one of the Whale Rescue models; its about the only Spyderco knife that you could put in the hawkbill category that I haven't yet owed.
Not sure yet what I would use it for but I'm sure I would find some viable use for it>> as I have with almost every other Spyder I've owned over the years.
How about a folding Whale Rescue? Aka a safety tipped Spyderhawk? Rescuehawk?

The Autonomy is the same way. I guess, short of some sort of snips, that's a chance you take. I'd seen a video of those guys in the video actually using Leathermans version of paramedic scissors, Raptors.
