D4 (family) in M4
D4 (family) in M4
Is there any chance that someday we could see the Seki frn models in M4? Seems like M4 has a solid group of followers. Is this something you would be interested in? My preference would be for the Delica and the Stretch. :p

Re: D4 (family) in M4
I'd personally like to see BHQ do some Seki models like the Endura, Delica, Dragonfly, Endela, and Police LW in TiCN coated M4 and Jade GITD FRN. Basically the FRN used in last year's non-zome GITD Delica, which looks pretty much the same as the Jade G10.
CRU-CARTA THE SEKI MODELS! AND BRING US THE DODO-FLY!

Heck yeah! I would love to see this.steelcity16 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 4:40 pmI'd personally like to see BHQ do some Seki models like the Endura, Delica, Dragonfly, Endela, and Police LW in TiCN coated M4 and Jade GITD FRN. Re: D4 (family) in M4
I think the current K390 is as close as you will get. Some like HAP40 better than M4.
Re: D4 (family) in M4
Not to sound rude, but there is literally no point to use M4, since they are already coming out in K390 which is a better steel. Okay... maybe shy of chopping a nail in half, but K390 is better in every other aspect. So slightly less toughness, lots more strength. at the edge itself, there is plenty of toughness, especially in the Seki FRN lineup, because the thickness behind the edge is there, yes, even in a Delica (it’s thicker than you think) if that makes since and it also keeps an edge longer than M4.
Tl;dr k390 has basically brutally slaughtered M4 for a blade steel in a pocket knife. IMO, there’s no reason to use M4 in a knife over K390 now that it’s available.
Edit* think of K390 as a M4 on steroids.

Re: D4 (family) in M4
All the K390 coming out right now has made me very happy. A TiCN run as a follow up will be needed :)
Re: D4 (family) in M4
I see your perspective here. Certainly ties in with BHQ offerings. Not my first choice, but not a bad choice. Reality, think I would take a M4 D4 any way I could get it!steelcity16 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 4:40 pmI'd personally like to see BHQ do some Seki models like the Endura, Delica, Dragonfly, Endela, and Police LW in TiCN coated M4 and Jade GITD FRN. You don't sound rude, but you sound certain many/most share your opinion. This I'm not too certain about. I know the PM2 group didn't get rid of their M4 when the K390 became available.prndltech wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 5:45 pmNot to sound rude, but there is literally no point to use M4, since they are already coming out in K390 which is a better steel. I have D4 in K390, Cru-Wear, M390, ZDP-189, HAP40, S30V, and VG-10. I would take two in M4, and doubtful I would get rid of any that I have.

Yeah by no means does that mean throw your M4 out... but being categorized the same somewhat, or some might put them in a similar class. I’m curious to know what about M4 do you prefer to k390? because in my findings it’s no contest now. Give me 2 of the same knives, one with K390 and one with M4 and I’d take the K390 every time.cycleguy wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 7:37 pmYou don't sound rude, but you sound certain many/most share your opinion. Also, when I said there was no reason to use M4 now that k390 is out and available, what I meant was using it in production, especially if the knife is already being made in k390. What I did not mean, was “no one should own M4 knives now”.

Re: D4 (family) in M4
It’s possible, but with the K390 line, requesting M4 kinda seems like wanting 440C instead of VG10.
Just my opinion, of course. :)
Have you tried the HAP40 line? It’s very similar to M4.

Yes, I like HAP40; but I still buy VG-10 and many other lesser (???) steels. :)Cambertree wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 9:35 pmIt’s possible, but with the K390 line, requesting M4 kinda seems like wanting 440C instead of VG10.

Re: D4 (family) in M4
What is M4 the new S30V..... too old to be a cool good steel anymore.
M4 fan here and would still love to see it in more models.
