K390 Dragonfly Alert Thread

#1

Post by kennethsime »

Who else pre-ordered a K390 Dragonfly?

I pre-ordered from BladeHQ in May, man it's been a long wait! I ordered a G-10 Dragonfly at the same time, planning to perform a blade swap once the K390 lands.

Now that the Ladybug & the Delica have been released, I'm hoping to see the Dragonfly ship soon!
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

It has been a long wait. Some Delicas and Enduras have trickled out. I’ve heard nothing but crickets about the Dragonfly.

Speaking of Crickets, can we get a Reverse S FRN Cricket in K390 soon??

With Spyderco anything is likely.

How about a cricket-fly? We already have the FRN moulds for the Dragonfly, and it seems easy enough to do a run with an alternate blade shape!

That would be my choice as well! ;) ANY of these in K390 would be sweet

Here were my very crude mockups from my Dodofly and Cricketfly threads. I would love both of these in PE and SE, but I would take any just one of them at this point to get the ball rolling! :D

I love that longer dodofly! While we're at it, let's have a SE option, too, please!

I like the elongated blade on both platforms, I say give me enough to fill the handle. Can't tell which I like better; the mockup on the Dodofly is better, but the Cricketfly blade seems to be more similar to the current Dragonfly blade.

Wasn't there a dodofly thread elsewhere? Got me excited the k390 was out.

I'm excited for this. I'll probably get the delica eventually as well, but the DFly will get a must buy as soon as it's available

I would *LOVE* to see both a PE & SE Lil' Matriarch . . . they are both awesome in VG10, if the full "Seki Endura family" is indeed done, I think they'd do amazingly well... :)

I think some of us don't get the point of an alert thread.

Hey Nick,

I started the thread because I wanted to chat about this upcoming knife. I also wanted to create a place to share info about releases.

I often see "Alert Thread" for knives that are expected soon, but have not been released yet. Is your contention that one should refrain from discussion in the alert thread, such that users may subscribe and only receive an alert when the knife is actually released?

If so, I wasn't aware of this point, but I do see it. I'm not sure the other alert threads are quite so chaste, but I'd be happy to change the title of this thread if there is some consensus on the matter.

I can't wait for the dragonfly in k390.
Did we ever get confirmation that a wharncliffe version will also be produced?

Yep, I was under the impression that this was a traditional alert thread where people post about the knife being available, not a 3rd thread where the dodofly is discussed. When you are hoping to get drop info, totally off topic chatter isn't generally why I subscribe to a thread. Not your fault.

I hope so. I'd like to see a PE Hawkbill Dragonfly as well.
