New member greeting & question
New member greeting & question
Hi all, Florida resident here. Longtime lurker here figured I would become official. I am mostly a gun guy and have many, my second interest is knives. Cleaning a drawer the other day and found my old "POLICE MODEL" its all stainless and has Serrated edge. I purchased this in either very late 80's or 90. I am pretty certain it is generation 1, it does have" Police Model "on the blade. It is lightly used. My question is how would I know for sure what generation it is ? also a friend said it is rare and collectable and worth $, is this true. ?

Welcome, Radman!
"Police model" lettering, all stainless and Serrated edge were both the first and the second generation.
The first generation has a lock release position closer to the blade than the second generation. And the first generation has beveled handles.
Let's take a look at the pictures of this knife.

Welcome to the forum!
I'm no help with the Police Model identification, but I can tell you latest and greatest sure is a looker. It'd be fun to have both to compare!
If I lived in Florida I think I'd pick up some Salt series knives. The Salt series just won't rust! The Native 5 Salt is a nice starting point, but the Pacific Salt 2 is also nice if you like larger knives.

I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.
