help me decide on something ridiculous to buy!

#1

Post by Abyss_Fish »

I have a strong need to add something ridiculous to my spyderco collection. I saw a blacked out matriarch 2 on instagram and was instantly drawn to it.

So that's my first choice, serrated fully blacked out matriarch 2 with a wiseman ring. But I was wondering if there's anything else in the lineup that I've missed. Basically looking for something entirely goofy. I'm not particularly attached to the tactical or whimsical side since I likely won't take it out of the house. As long as it's less than $150-ish and is particularly odd.

thanks for the suggestions in advance, have a great weekend.
Lightly insane.

Current spydie collection: Watu, Rhino, UKPK Salt G10 bladeswap, Yojimbo 2 Smooth G10 Cru-Wear, Manix lw “mystic” 20cv, SmallFly 2, Waterway, Ladybug k390, Caribbean
Current favorite steels: sg2/R2, lc200n/Z-FiNit, 3v

Hold out for the Pochi. It looks like it will be pretty off beat.

Pochi is a good suggestion.

The problem with the weird ones is that people like us (I have a Dodo coming) keep the prices on the secondary market rather high. Your $150 limit does reduce your choices.

How about the Dog Tag?

May as well try out a curvey spyderedge!

Curios if the matriarch 2 would work in the garden or landscaping? I've nearly pulled the trigger a few times.

I can tell you from first hand experience that both the PE & SE Lil' Matriarch are awesome for lawn & garden tasks -- IMO. :)

It's pretty vicious on flesh too, but I'll spare you the graphic photos.

;) I could see how intimidating it would be just in SD scenarios as well. It just screams viscious.

Knifeworks still has an Introvert but it's a little over budget.

Every so often, you can find a Spyderco R for $150-ish on the secondary market. It's not lacking personality. I don't own one, but the Swiss cheese look is fascinating.

There's a few places that show the Shabaria in stk, and it meets the price point.

Definitely get a Pochi. That one is destined to be a future collectors item. it'll be one of those knives that has the folks on this forum in 2028 scratching their heads and saying 'I never knew about that one...'
