Chances are very slim to none, but Southfork-ish knife in the 200 € range would be the best thing since sliced bread.

Waterway?
Top three going by pocket-time: Endura 4 in VG 10/Micarta-scales; Stretch 1 in VG 10; Endura 4 in HAP 40

Just gonna leave this here. A rare photo of a Southfork doing what it was born to do.

Have one. But the Southfork is quite different design. Similar, but different.

I would be in for a Southfork Sprint in any of these steels, honestly, particularly if the handle was micarta.

I did vote for 4V because to me the Southfork is a good outdoors knife design, and 4V in my experience has a good combination of toughness, edge retention, and corrosion resistance, maybe weighted somewhat towards toughness. Which seems to be a good combination of of attributes in an outdoors knife.

That being said, I think price would be the biggest driver. Keeping it around or under $200 US would be awesome. Not sure that's really possible though in a relatively low volume sprint fixed blade in a fancy steel. Especially one with the extra time required to polish those scales.

I'm definitely interested.

What was MAP for the base model Southfork?

I think I paid in the neighborhood of $220 for mine.

A sprint at less than the price of the base model doesn't seem realistic.

I'd honestly be willing to pay substantially more for a 4v or k390 Southfork.

Yes, the price could break this model. It seems like high price Taichung models are never super selling models.
I still hope for another fixed blade from Mr. Wilson in that 200 € price range.

I guess it is time that I weigh in on the idea of a sprint run on the South Fork. Acording to Sal it was a very expensive knife to make. That is a big chunk of CPM S90v and that stuff back then at least was a bear to machine. It is still a lot of machining even with a different steel. CPM S90V is more common now and Spyderco has several designs now using CPM S90V. The design was a product of a lot of years use it in the field and tweaking it for both performance and eye appeal. I think I made the first custom version about 20 years ago. I was dissapointed when it was discontinued but reality wins out on that. The question is would it be a better success with a different steel grade? A lot of unknowns and above my pay grade so I leave it to the fabricator and marketing experts. I will say from my perspecrive that it would not be a “Spyderco”South Fork with out the CPM S90V. That steel met all the criteria for a hunting utility knife that could cross over into kitchen and fishing use with good corrosion resistance and great edge holding. It was cutting edge (pun) and a bit of a risk and experiment . I think it paved the way for several other fixed blade collaborations that were introduced shortly after. I still make the custom South Fork but with somewhat different dimensions with tool steels like the A11 category and have used pretty much all the newer grades that have shown up lately. CPM S30V and its cousins make a great South Fork as well. Thanks to all who weighed in on this. The thread has been interesting and appreciate the kind words. Phil

The Southfork remains one of my all time favorite fixed blades. I’d likely buy another in an interesting steel. S90v never really tickled my fancy. I love the Southfork DESPITE the s90v, not because of it. Just my 2 cents.

Did I say I love the design :D
I like when the designer himself comes to thread and talks about his knife, that is just lovely.
Southfork is such a elegant and clean design, but the price was high. Maybe as Mr. Wilson said, with different grade steel it could be a different story, who knows.
Even if we didn't get another run of Southfork, this was a nice discussion.

94% of the people in this poll agree with you on S90V apparently. I get the reasoning behind the original choice, but sometimes the market has their own opinions as we see in this poll.

Of the 10 steels in this poll, S90V, M390 (and variants), and K390 are probably the 3 that interest me the least for this particular model and would likely keep me away. I'd pick one up in any of the other steels, especially AEB-L or Cruwear. I just bought my first fixed blade of 2020 today actually. A Cruwear BRK Loveless Design Wilderness Explorer. The steel and design were a heavy influence as my fixed blade purchases are few and far between. The SouthFork reminds me of a slightly smaller Wilderness Explorer sans bolsters.

Return of Southfork in any way shape or form would be welcome. I even break the bank and spend more then 200 € if needed.

If it were made in LC200N, the price would be substantially less than with S90V, K390 and most other steels.

Just saying :)

LC is awesome stuff, wouldn't mind it at all.
Or any Southfork for that reason

Lc200n would put it in direct competition with the waterway which would reduce demand given the likely higher price for the southfork

K390 would be epic imo!

I will not allow this thread to go into second page or somewhere else. I will spam this until we get more Southfork.
Darby was successful with his Cru-Wear micarta Proficient, si there is still hope for me.
