I am OK recommending steel like K390. OP is interested in a PM2 and K390 is an option. You get a great steel, and a unique handle color.

If money is a factor, then sure, get the cheaper one. If sharpening skills are a factor (lack of), then it really doesn't matter. Most people I know, even those who EDC a knife, lack the skills to sharpen a knife to what I would consider sharp. Even the likes of 8Cr. Hence I get a lot of, 'hey, could you touch this up for me...'

Supersteel to me is a strange label. A steel may have different properties, it may cut longer in a controlled environment, but no edge last forever, and none is immune to damage.

I'd say buy the knife you fancy most. ;)

If you're only cutting tape to open packages and playing with the knife you probably won't ever need to sharpen either S30V or S110V. :)
