Interest for an all Titanium Ikuchi?
Re: Interest for an all Titanium Ikuchi?
I'd rather see a steel change than Titanium scales.
Maybe SPY-27 and the appropriate shade of blue G10 scales?

Re: Interest for an all Titanium Ikuchi?
If you're gonna go through the trouble of making it titanium, then why not go all the way and make it a salt with LC200N? Kinda like a micro filet or bird & trout. <g>
Re: Interest for an all Titanium Ikuchi?
Big fan of the Ikuchi I am, and a big sucker for titanium too. But in fact, me like the Ikuchi just the way it is. So grippy, works perfectly well for me. If there was something I'd change, I'd make it bigger! Bigger is better! :)
S30V is ok, though it would be even more special if it had a rarer steel. But that's just me thinking...

Re: Interest for an all Titanium Ikuchi?
I love titanium, but not for this one, sorry.
In a knife like this, what would be the benefit of a more expensive, harder use blade steel? Are you really going to cut miles of rope, thousands of feet of cardboard, hack your way through an aircraft or car door? Heck, 440C would likely be enough in this knife. I just cannot get on board with every knife being $200+ pocket jewelry. I would have bought this knife in BD1N and been happy to save a few bucks.

Re: Interest for an all Titanium Ikuchi?
I would be most interested in a serrated variant (for cutting on hard surfaces).
This is a light use design that is best suited for slicing food. A cheaper more corrosion resistant steel, like BD1N makes the most sense to me. Cheaper G10 or FRN scales with shallow (but not smooth) texturing would also be appreciated.
To make this sell better, the mechanical design needs to be refined to make it easy for untrained people to use the flipper and disengage the compression lock, out of the box. It probably wouldn't hurt to remove the unnecessary holes in the handle and blade, which are likely off-putting to a lot of people.

Re: Interest for an all Titanium Ikuchi?
I'm interested in any future iteration of the Ikuchi, but ideally I'd like to see different steels and more contoured handle slabs rather than Ti. By 'contoured' I mean any shape or form that would make the handle less flat in hand and would add purchase during deployment (pic below with my Anso-style grooved handle slabs for exemplification purposes, but it doesn't need to match that, simply to offer more purchase in hand than it does now).
LC200N and contoured hi-visibility scales (regardless of color or material) would make me buy multiples.

Re: Interest for an all Titanium Ikuchi?
Man, I was cranky that day. Maybe a high end one-and-done type of Ikuchi would be a good idea? I still don't think it needs a super high wear steel, however.JRinFL wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 9:48 amI love titanium, but not for this one, sorry.

Re: Interest for an all Titanium Ikuchi?
Yes, definitely interested.
To me the Ikuchi serves a purpose unlike any of my other 'utility' knives, which I have plenty of. For that reason I don't need Salt or more grippy scales. Keep it classy; allow for patina.
I would also say ditch the CF laminate. Although I already have custom CF scales on mine, so that alone wouldn't sway me. Unless you throw a tool steel at it...

Re: Interest for an all Titanium Ikuchi?
I have long lusted for a serrated saltified Mantra 2. Since that ain't gonna happen, my best hope would be for a serrated saltified Ikuchi. Since it is highly improbable that they would do only a serrated version, the probably of a PE version is greater. If It did come to pass I would have to buy the pair. A Ti framelock version of the Ikuchi would be more than fine with me as would a larger version.
Re: Interest for an all Titanium Ikuchi?
the more i think about a titanium ikuchi, the more i want one. i contacted flytanium and they said they may make scales for the ikuchi someday, but i'd rather just get it from spyderco with ti scales.

Re: Interest for an all Titanium Ikuchi?
I would be interested but LC200N and all Carbon fiber scales would work better for me. I don’t care for Spyderco’s carbon fiber/G10 laminate. I do like the idea of the sea monster theme on ti scales though. I suspect that would be pretty pricey.

Re: Interest for an all Titanium Ikuchi?
Definitely interested in variations of the Ikuchi. Ti, FRN, micarta, G10, hopefully with a steel change. I love the original and would be a sucker for a cool variation of the original.

Magnacut Ti-kuchi.
Still. Interested.
