If you could only keep one Spyderco

#1

Post by Red »

Here in South Florida we have another storm offshore. Trying to decide to evacuate the Keys this morning, reminded me of the same decision I had to make in 2017 for a much stronger hurricane, Irma. I stayed too long then and left at the last minute basically throwing what I could into my truck along with the dog to haul butt outta here. All my knives came, easy to pack and didn't take up a-lot of space but I ended up losing everything that I couldn't fit into my truck including my home and shop. Not a pleasant time but it got me to thinking if you could keep only one Spyderco that you already have for the end of time which one would you keep?

For me, its my PM2 cpms110v. If they made a Salt version combo edge, I would have gone with that one. (Because of course I would have one!!)

Probably my Autonomy. It was a gift from my son, and it's downright awesome!

Hey man, northwest florida native. I have had to play the hurricane game many times myself. Although luckily I have never lost everything, sorry to hear that.

After hurricane Michael, I actually had an interesting choice in terms of what knife I wanted to carry that could do hard work, and get dirty, and take a beating, and get rained on, and exposed to salt water, and hold an edge, and get used by family members for god knows what, etc. Its fun to think about why I chose what I chose after the fact.

I dont know if I could only keep one.
But, I might have to go with the pacific salt for now.
At least until Spyderco makes a backlock, no choil, XXXL, Shaman, salt, combo edge. That is my ultimate fantasy could do anything knife.

Ha! I wrestled with that one and the PM2!! So close for me, practically the Autonomy makes so much more sense for me but the PM2 just owns my soul!

Never held one but always admired them from what I could see. Wish we had a retailer down here but not one for 100 miles up or down the Keys.

Another storm dodging Floridian, very cool! That Shaman sounds like the perfect apocalyptic hurricane Sprint run for sure!!

For me it would probably be the Autonomy 2.

This question is as old as the internet itself. :) Despite that it isn't any easier for me to answer. In fact since Spyderco began using so many different versions with different steels and finishes it keeps getting more difficult to answer. Since there is no K390 Endura yet I won't choose that though that would be a first or second choice. The other one would be a Cruwear Endura which also doesn't exist.

Of the real knives in my collection as we speak I'm going with a Hap 40 Endura.

Haven’t had the chance for a SPY27 blade yet but hearing so many good things about it makes me want one.
