UKPK Custom Scales.

#1

Post by Superfool »

Ok, so having run the polls and threads regarding the DAMAUKPK project, it has been apparent that some people have been put off by the ivory G10 choice.

I did a long old internet deep dive, to try and find someone with a good reputation and body of work.

I came across a fellow in the UK, and ordered 2 sets of custom titanium, and one set of carbon fibre, and they arrived today. They are really good, and I would recomend him:

It's an instagram link, and I had to join to chat to him, but have a look and see what you think.

He is a very nice chap, and will post worldwide.
Please let him know that I referred you.

To be clear:

1. I am in no way associated with him.
2. I receive no incentive or percentage for referrals.
3. I take no responsibility whatsoever for your interactions with him.
4. TazKristi has been consulted, and has given me permission to post this.

All the best, David.

Someone here had a UKPK with custom Ti scales that had great texturing (might be more accurate to call it engraving). Basically they'd been carved to look like some kind of jigged bone scales.

Does anyone happen to have a link to that knife?

I have some sun ray G-10 scales on a PM2. I like the way they give good grip and look good at the same time.

This one? It’s meant to look like tree bark. Work was done by MJL Bladeworx on IG:

This one is Koa with ruby red G10 liners (from Steve Ketchen many years ago):

This one is natural canvas Micarta with black G10 liners (also Steve Ketchen’s work):

You can see I have a thing for UKPKs ;) :D

Not a UKPK-guy myself. but both the wood and Micarta scaled knife just look amazing! :)

I'll definitely look into a set when the Damascus UKPK is released. I don't mind the ivory G10, but I think that some marbled carbon fibre scales would look absolutely amazing!

I love that Koa.

My dad has a bunch of Koa in his garage (he does custom high end woodwork) and I'm going to do some mule scales with him and my kids when we visit in August. I think it'll be a really nice thing for everyone, and the kids will probably grow to appreciate them many years from now.
