I'd be happy with a production prototype pic or anything, even if it's another year away. Like you said the suspense is pretty thick.

As weird as it sounds I do think it's highly possible that Spyderco themselves haven't yet gotten a prototype of their own.

With all the Forum talk about the C-60 Sprint Run model you would think that we would have gotten some type of news by now. I haven't talked to the guys over at Bladeforums in a while about this upcoming Sprint Run of the C-60 Ayoob. But when I did talk to those guys I got very positive reactions to it from several of the BF members. Maybe it's time for me to start a thread on the Spyderco sub-Forum over at BF.

There are a lot of hard core collectors and Spyderco fans that remember the C-60 model very well.

It's still in-the-works with the original maker. They're slow, but still around. 3rd generation.

Is that a recent comment?

I guess slow and steady from the original maker is better than being rushed through by anyone else just to get it into production. I also hope it means they're making plenty of them to go around and not become flipper bait.

Yeah I'm sure that's right because I started a new thread over at BF yesterday. I've been pre-occupied here in the past 2 to 3 days and haven't had time to check the forum as much as I would like to. But I'm certain that was indeed "yesterday's news".

But that's not bad or disappointing news to me at all. Like "Freediver" just said "slow and steady from the original maker" is sort of good news to me. Because quality is my top priority and I'm sure it is with Spyderco as well.

3rd gen peeks my attention. What changes are making it a 3rd gen?
CQI isn't always a good thing.

The smartass in me wants to tell you to read this thread and find out, but considering it's almost 60s pages long even I'm not that evil :winking-tongue

The only major change I remember reading so far is to a 4 way clip and different steel and G10 scales. I don't know if they'd go all in and change the pivot or lock geometry and stuff like that. The Chinook 4 was really a whole new model while this is more of a sprint, or so that's how it seems so far.

I think “3rd gen” is a reference to the family operating the factory these are coming from and not the knife itself, but I reserve the right to be completely wrong. :)

Thank you as always Mr. Glesser for keeping us up to speed on the C-60 Sprint Run.

Actually in one sense it's kind of getting to be fun waiting on this new Ayoob Sprint Run. I think it will just a make a guy appreciate it a lot more when it finally arrives.

If you've never yet had the privilege of having a C-60 Ayoob in your hand>> then you're in for a delightful surprise. That's one of the big reasons I want to see this one back again. There are so many of the newer folks here in the community that have never yet got to check one of these C-60 Ayoob models out.

For all those into Self Defense, Outdoor Sports, or just a great variety of jobs you encounter daily while carrying your trusted EDC folder then you absolutely must afford yourself the luxury of owning this Spyderco Ultra-Classic.

And it's everything I knew it would be. It's an ergonomic marvel. I'm really surprised another company hasn't taken this idea and ran with it.

I am however, a little bit concerned about the serration geometry, and I really hope the upcoming version can be done in a much more mellow pattern like for example the Rock Jumper, because these are some of the thickest and notchiest serrations I've seen. I definitely won't be even trying to reprofile this knife, but I would love to be able to on the new one and if it comes ground like this it's going to be near impossible.

So, Sal if you're reading this please consider speaking with the maker to see if this is possible. Otherwise I'm now even more excited for this new version to come out.

NICE David!! Those are calendar quality pics! I'm carrying my PE today, my plan is to buy one of each, but....if that's not a possibility for some reason the serrated edge is definitely first! Congratulations on a great score!
