... of course, sal could just come out, let us know and provide some relief ot our anxiety, but something tells me that he is sitting back, playing with that pre-production Ayoob, drinking beer and enjoying himself watching us suffer :p

I hope Mushroom is right and both different edge models are Cru-Wear. Is Cru-Wear the best steel out there, nope, but I personally love the two models that I own with that steel, and love everything about the way it performs!

Here's another way to look at it if they do go with two different steels.....

The PE in Cru-Wear is already going to be a thing, so there's our one Ayoob model in tool steel.

Now for the serrated edge....how about H1 and/or LC200N? We already know how tough both are, and VERY corrosion resistant so there's our stainless model, but mainly we know what insane cutters both are in SE! Plus the Japanese know how to perfectly grind serrations in both of these steels although I'm not sure or don't remember who the builder is on this project?

But back to my first sentence, I'll be very happy with both models being Cru-Wear!

I think everybody's jaw would drop if the SE Ayoob would come in H1. I don't see that happening to be honest. I expect either VG-10, or CruWear. I don't even know what I wish for myself. I leave this one up to Spyderco :)

I find it funny how to anyone outside of our niche group this phrase would be nothing more than gibberish, but we understand it perfectly.

I would be careful. Recent days are teaching us, that motivation matters more than the size.

I would be the last one to complain if Spyderco did the SE version of the C-60 Ayoob Sprint Run in either H-1 or LC200N. Both steels have proven to be good performers with TEETH.

Yeah I also think it would be a longshot for that to happen. But again if they do the full SE version in VG-10 you'll not hear me complain at all. VG-10 has also been a great steel for Spyderedged blades. I've never ever had a chip or any kind of a problem with full SE blades in VG-10.

But now I will admit it would be most interesting to at least check out a full SE blade in CRUWEAR.

The more I think about it I would actually like the fully serrated C-60 in LC200N better than I would in H-1. But I've had decent results with fully serrated H-1 blades. As I've said several times if they elect to use VG-10 for the fully serrated C-60 I won't complain at all.

I'm really looking very much forward to the Cruwear blade for the plain edged variant. I'm completely sure however it pans out that Mr. Glesser won't disappoint us which ever he decides on the serrated version of the C-60. I think we are all getting fits of anxiety waiting for this bad boy to arrive. In both variants to be sure.

h1 makes more sense to me because of the hollow grind. i'd be down to try hollow ground se lc200n. :)

I am more and more starting to wonder whether the main reason Spyderco decided to make LC200N blades flat and not simply replace the H1 with hollow ground LC200N was to keep our ladybug93 happy 😁

I have SE Pac Salts In both steels and I like them for different things- the H1 is my “if I could only have one” and the LC is a great knife for camping, rafting, anything with outdoor food prep as it simply slices much better than the thick-spined H1.

spyderco listens to their customers, but i can almost guarantee they aren't making deductions based on my desires.

And as you know the C-60 Ayoob is a hollow grind blade. However I've kind of wondered about that myself.

I'm not the biggest fan of hollow grind blades but it seems to work really great on the C-60 Ayoob in PE & SE both.

The Stainless version of the C-52 Caly Jr is another hollow grind Spyder that I tend to really like in spite of the grind.

As much as I'm not really a huge fan of low height hollow grinds, I don't think this model would work in FFG unless the blade shape was changed into a much taller blade height, and I'm sure that's not going to happen. On a short blade like this there just isn't enough room for the flat grind to transition from edge to spine without it being a door stop. Even the Nilakka is a wedge, but it gets away with it by being a near zero grind. This blade would be stupid thick behind the edge if it was done in FFG. This just isn't a slicing sort of design.

Mark Greenman had an Ayoob Krein regrinded FFG, wonder if he could comment on performance? @markgreenman
