I think people that truly want this knife don't mind doing polls to get it. I'm sure the process itself and the detractors are frustrating
+1

Hang in there David, you’re almost at the finish line. :)

Yep, just do what it takes SF. I've asked for a Damasteel UKPK before and I appreciate your efforts to include everyone's opinions. ;)

My apologies for any drift in the thread direction. That's not intended. I support this project wholeheartedly.

Superfool, look to your PMs. I think I shared some basic ideas about patterns and blade profile sizes. For the curious, I recommend a smaller uniform pattern rather than something like the Large Rose. But I like the large patterns too. They won't look good in a small blade. Think of seeing only the top or bottom half of a large rose, not attractive. Plus some of the pattern will be affected by the stock removal process shaping the blade profile. Two factors that should be accounted for in developing this design, IMO.

A very nice feature of Damasteel is that the pattern goes all the way through the billet. It's not superficial, so it will show well no matter the blade grind (flat vs hollow etc.).

I'll leave more crumbs in the straight razor thread.

Would you consider Thor suitable for a UKPK blade? It's got some rather long lines...

Penultimate, and maybe even final poll for this knife is here.

Please go and vote:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=87096

Please read the guide. You get 3 choices in the hope that this spreads the votes out. No backsies.

Remember this is a small knife, so bear that in mind when deciding.

Choose wisely.

Looks good on the Native, which is nearly the same shape and size blade.

From the pictures available I can't tell if it will fit. Ultimately the final choice of leaf vs drop point, and profile dimensions will constrain choices, or if Damasteel will make some bars to fit the profile for Spyderco (that would be great customer service). Thor is a nice pattern.

Im kind of on the fence about this being a "weighted" poll.

There would be pros and cons no matter how the poll was done. How would you prefer? +1 for first choice only (I can put up those numbers real quick)?

The retail price of DC18N is almost 3 times more expensive compared to damasteel (DS93x), which may well equate to 2 times the price of the finished knife. For that price, I much prefer to buy damasteel UKPK + vanax UKPK!!!

Just one request though, please make it <10tho behind the edge. It will really suit the use and the steel of this knife.

1. First Choice: Rose
2. Second Choice: Munnin
3. Really don't want: Vinland

Hi there Murat_Cyp.

Unfortunately, you are too late for the preliminaries, but the actual poll for the top 6 is over here:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=87096

Please have a look at the options and vote for the three you liked there.

Many thanks.
