This is prep for the DAMASTEEL poll.

There are 20 patterns for the damasteel here:

FIRSTLY: Please go the the website, and click on the patterns, to see examples of what this will look like.
Please actually do this for all the options, and bear in mind the SIZE of the blade. Some patterns suit different things better than others.

From the looks of the blade shape poll, it is heavily in favour of the LEAF shape blade. It's still early stages in the handle poll, and if it finishes much closer, then I may re-poll to clarify, as I think I may have put too many options on there. By the looks of it Ivory G10 is currently in the lead, but I wonder if I had left micarta off, and only but one CF option on, whether the results may be different.

For this reason, I am going to try and keep the steel options to 3, but 5 at an absolute maximum. I don't want to mess about doing 2 polls of 10, then whittling it down to this over the course of the next decade.

Thank you for all your participation here. I am trying my best to make the Damasteel UKPK decisions as inclusive as I can, and hopefully we will finish up with something that appeals to as many of us as possible. I am also juggling shifts at my hospital, and am absolutely knackered with other stuff going on. I am responding when I am able.

The actual steel type used is _a lot_ more important to me than the pattern. I VASTLY prefer DC18N to DS93x or DS95x.

If this knife is DC18N, I'm in for multiples, even at a $200 price point. If it runs in DS93X or DS95X, I'm not actually super interested, but it depends on the price.

DC18N is only available in Odins Eye™, Grosserosen™, Hakkapella™, Thor™, Hugin™ and Rose™.

So basically, I vote for "any pattern of DC18N" and I vote against "DS93X or DS95X" regardless of the pattern.

Damacore is a cladded steel and not really what most people think of when they think of Damasteel. I am curious about it's pricing though. I imagine N11X (like Vanax) isn't at all cheap.

Hi David,

Thanx for doing this. I like to get all of the input I can when trying to create a design that the Afi's are requesting.

Were checking the cost difference in the difference steels. It is my guess that the DC18, requiring Vanax in the mix, will be more costly and harder and take longer to get. But we'll see?

As someone who bought damasteel recently, damacore (DC18N) is definitely more expensive than the normal stuff.

First choice - Bjorkman's twist
Second choice - Baldur

Sal, do you have any (rough) guess as to the difference in retail price if this is run in DC18N v. DS93X or DS95X?

Are we talking about $50 more per unit (which I'd totally be up for)? Or $250 more per unit (which would doubtless mean extremely low sales)?
