Torn between an S90V Chief or holding out for Rex45. Plan to give one of them a go and see if it grows on me.
You might be interested in waiting for the 4V exclusive that was hinted at earlier this week. That’s what I might try for as an intro to the Chief.
I missed that. 4V Chief sounds awesome.

I too would love a Native Chief in 4V but I have been waiting a long time for this CF S90V model to show up...I may be wrong but has it been a year ? By the way how does 4V compare with S90V ?

I assumed the s90v chief would have peel ply carbon fiber. But its not, its smooth. It looks great. The funny thing is its really grippy as well, to a suprising degree. Im not worried about the grip just pointing it out.

^^^ The CF is different, but it's not polished and slick, it has a matte look and feel.

This is a great knife. I think I like it better than the Police4 and the Ulize. The curve of the handle is very nice in hand. Works in a reverse grip too.

Carries fairly well in a tight front pocket due to the nice shape of the spine and the integral lanyard hole on the pocket clip.

Good work, Spyderco.

I am so glad that I snagged a pair of these. The handle material + blade steel combination is my favorite.

This is great 'cause we get to witness all the people holding out on trying the Chief for one of the sprints getting their hands on it and seeing how awesome it is. Welcome to the club.

Sorry, but I’m really disappointed that they didn’t go with their standard Golden peel ply CF on this. I’ve been waiting for this knife for a long time, and to have it not match all its other Golden CF brothers in my collection is really a bummer. Yes, I know it’s still an amazing knife, but my OCD about these things matching is taking a hit.

Why doesn’t it have peel-ply CF??! Why would you change something like this up? My goodness, PLEASE do not use anything other than standard peel ply on the S90V Lil Native.

I don’t have the CF Chief yet (and may never), just from the pics I’ve seen on IG and the comments here that it’s a different texture CF has been enough. The peel ply texture I was hoping for was that used on the CF Military, PM2 and Para3, and Native 5.

I don’t have mine yet, but I honestly don’t care what texture it has. I love my smooth CF ones just as much as any of my peel ply. And even all of my peel ply have slightly different texturing. Pics that I’ve seen on the Chief seem to put it right between smooth and peel ply, which may be nice in the end!

There's not an alert thread and didn't want to create a new one. Goinggear has the S90V in stock: https://goinggear.com/collections/knive ... 3431777315

The only other carbon fiber Spyderco i have is the S30v Chaparral. The Chief's CF is lighter in color and smoother but you can still feel the weave.

I saw that. Fradon Safe and Lock store has some also... https://www.safeandlockstore.com/knives ... iber-s90v/

Did you get an Indiana Knives keychain with your order? It smells so Awesome but i think it's too flimsy to seriously carry it.

Yeah they gave me a keychain. I guess its a thin piece of burnt wood. If it breaks, it breaks.

Hi everyone, the chief isn't my particular cup of tea but I'd thought you all should know bladeops has some of the cf/s90v in stock: https://bladeops.com/spyderco-sprint-ru ... tin-blade/

Happy hunting!
